Just another WordPress.com site. When we started Giving Anonymously we decided that we would not take a salary from GA but that we would instead raise our own outside income to meet our family’s needs. We felt our motivation for encouraging others to give through GA, if we were salaried, would not be honouring to the sacrifices many people make to give through our website to their friends and family. Thank you for your investment in us. We are really thankful. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. You are commenti...

Just another WordPress.com site. May 15, 2011. I have just been writing the kids’ monthly learning reports today and it finally dawned on me why this last month has seemed so blurry and a bit wild! But in all of that, one of our main emphases for our kids’ learning this month was on how to make good, critically thought-through decisions. (And as it turned out we had a lot of application opportunities! The rain represented the wisdom and advice we seek and ask for from others – but that we pray, too...

Misha was born in Afghanistan and raised in Amsterdam – her folks now live in South Africa. Kezia and Luke, well, we decided to raise them in the Pacific Northwest of the United States just to break the mold! We all love the mountains and the Pacific Ocean and being outside. Just another WordPress.com site. An Update from the Thompsons – Seven Years! March 30, 2012. As of April 1st Giving Anonymously will be celebrating our seventh year as an organization and about $2,160,000 has been given through us during those seven years. It is a great beginning for what we envisioned years ago and what we hope for in the years to come. That have spent tens of thousands in donated time to building our website. So why do we do it? The budgetary needs of our first tier are being met, howe...

Something Pretty Clever: October 2011
http://kariyoung.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 27, 2011. A couple weeks ago, we took a family adventure to a cabin over in the hills near Winthrop. The Rendezvous. When we got to the last turn off to our cabin, it was not marked in any way ("take the first right after the cattle guard") and the very primitive road seemed to go on forever to who knows where. Finally we spotted the hut, perched on a hill overlooking the M ethow. Valley. No civilization in sight (the nearest cabin is aprox. 1 mile away and hills hide winthrop. Awesome&...

Friday, October 15, 2010. Cross Country team 2020. Had a Jog-a- thon. At his school as a PTA fundraiser. Parents were invited to stay and cheer the kids on as they ran and since his class was running right when they got to school, I decided to stay with Annika. He passed we cheered him on and even ran with him a couple times. He basically ran for almost 30 minutes straight and got the most laps of any kid in his class. Occasionally. 1 and 3/4 miles is probably about what he ran. At the end of the time he...
Ramblings Along the Journey: December 2011
http://splattyhaps.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Ramblings Along the Journey. Wednesday, December 14, 2011. To Celebrate or Not to Celebrate the "US" of Christmas…? I just saw that I've had 1,131 views of my blog! I'm sure other bloggers will agree. So, if you're one of the 1,131 views on here, thanks! I had no idea you were out there. :). It's Christmas time, and as you saw by the last blog entry I posted, my shared blog post from Jamie TVWM. I honestly wouldn't go back for anything. But I do have a dilema… what to do with Christmas. I guess...How can...

Ramblings Along the Journey. Sunday, July 24, 2011. Hotties… and SIN. Where I'm from they call hot water bottles "hotties". Knowing that may make you realize I'm not talking about really good looking men. But… hot water bottles… and SIN? So a few weeks ago I was FREEZING and got my hottie all ready to take to bed with me (sheesh, that just sounds bad! But couldn't find the cover. Not a problem I thought! I went to sleep hugging that bottle like it was the only thing keeping me alive! Slept like a baby ac...

Ramblings Along the Journey. Thursday, December 30, 2010. 2011…. still sounds kinda space age don't you think? I trust you all had a great Christmas holiday! If you are like most people, the Christmas music is put away, the tree might be down, and you're on your way to figure out what to do for New Year's Eve. In Tauranga the biggest celebration for NYE I'm guessing would have to be at Mount Maunganui. I've spent a couple NYEs down there, and it really is fun! That's my personal prayer anyway! As I refle...

http://splattyhaps.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Ramblings Along the Journey. Monday, June 6, 2011. It's just one of those… few months! Life for me the last few months has been a practical application of the word "flexibility". Good thing I have that one firmly tucked under my belt - thanks YWAM - and so it hasn't exactly thrown me… but my neck is a little sore from all the whipping around! This is an example of a picture. From the Bible Story Book. You know how we grow up believing that the "still waters" of Ps 23 are peaceful and calm? I was raised i...

Ramblings Along the Journey. Sunday, May 6, 2012. Hippies, Protests, and Prostitutes. As I sit here I am sad to think this is our last day in Belo. Man time flies when you're having fun! There's lots to tell you before we leave! Please keep in mind I am sick as I am writing this, so it's not near as creatively written as I would like. Banners we walked around with, and handed out pamphlets to anyone who would take them. Funny thing was - they took them! Along with passing out stuff, we had to wear medica...

Ramblings Along the Journey. Wednesday, September 19, 2012. Keepin It Real - Part 2. Thanks for your comments on here and on FB about the last post. It's stirred up some discussion which has been great! If you didn't read my response to one of my friend's comments, let me clarify something - I DO think it's important to filter what you say. Believe me, I have to do it all the time. ha! But my point was that just because you don't SAY it, doesn't mean you aren't GUILTY of having a bad attitude. Christian ...

Ramblings Along the Journey. Friday, May 18, 2012. Guns, Drug Traffickers, and Ping Pong. You know those days when you wake up and think… was that a gunshot or a firecracker? Yeah, me neither - except for this last week when we were staying in a Brazilian Favela (slum community). There are over 1000 Favelas in the whole of Rio de Janeiro, and we had the amazing opportunity of staying for a week in one of them. Have you seen the movie City of God? He works very closely with the YWAM team at the house.).

One Photo a Day
One Photo a Day. Ducks in a Row. Wednesday, October 5, 2011. Oct 5 - Canvases, and Acrylics, and Elephants - Oh My! Better. It's a lesson learned pretty early on in motherhood: Don't set your mind on having anything. We decided on an elephant for the shape. After Griffin had had his way with the paints, I filled in some of the blank spaces. Once it had dried, it was time to peel off the elephant. Clearly, Mr. Elephant needed a bit of.help. He was looking slightly amorphous. Tuesday, October 4, 2011.

The Thompson Family
Friday, July 30, 2010. A long overdue update. Reece is our little man. He might be small, but he is super fast and packs a punch(not literally). Reece is a fan of anything truck. This includes construction equipment, tractors, airplanes, fire trucks, and trains. He loves playing with his Geotrax set and riding his tricycle. He just turned 3 years old and is quite the talker and has a super funny sense of humor. If you would like to see more on our running and how we've been doing check out the link.
