Not So Far Now. A little something to keep the miles at bay. Saturday, July 18, 2015. While Dad was up in the air the kids and I made sure to see all the sights. We visited the Brilliant Suspension Bridge, Millenium Park and its clever swimming ponds, plus Crawford Bay and its talented artisans. We even met the family that makes Harry Potter's brooms! After 8 days of watching Daddy take off, the kids were treated to a flight, Castlegar to Nelson, just Daddy, Leo and Pearl. Pretty awesome stuff! Not So Far Journeys. The story of the Iron Goat began over 100 years ago when the last spike of the Great Northern Railway was driven, marking the crossing of the Cascades at Stevens Pass and completing one of the most remarkable engineering feats of the 19th century. There is a total of 9 mile s of the old railroad, now called the Iron Goat Trail of which we did about 7 today. Will have to go back in the fall and maybe make it to Wellington to see the old avalanche train disaster. See Trail Map Here.
