That Girl with the Scalpel: February 2014
http://thatgirlwiththescalpel.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
That Girl with the Scalpel. A recently graduated Pathologists' Assistant. Thursday, February 20, 2014. Trying doesn't quite count. But there was a number I'd have to email my course director to get and didn't want to be a bother. So I figured I'd just do the online application and skip that bit, except four minutes after I started filling out the online application the website went down for maintenance. Rats, foiled again! That Girl with the Scalpel: December 2013
http://thatgirlwiththescalpel.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
That Girl with the Scalpel. A recently graduated Pathologists' Assistant. Tuesday, December 31, 2013. The year that was, and the year that will be. 2013 was chock full of exciting and wondrous things, and a few things I'd rather never have happen again. I will forget to mention great swathes of things that mattered, I'm sure, but that is par for the course. The things that seemed so horrible at the time (I'm looking at you laptop crash! The pathologists are nice too, but not as fun to hang out with!

That Girl with the Scalpel: September 2013
http://thatgirlwiththescalpel.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
That Girl with the Scalpel. A recently graduated Pathologists' Assistant. Wednesday, September 25, 2013. A nice easy week so far. I like being able to have everything done by then, some days it is harder since we accept specimens until then and I gross whatever comes in. And then there are other days when there aren't a lot of specimens but the ones I have are time consuming (oh colons and lymph node hunting, sometimes they are my worst enemy). Tuesday, September 17, 2013. Fun things in jars. They use ge...

That Girl with the Scalpel: June 2014
http://thatgirlwiththescalpel.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
That Girl with the Scalpel. A recently graduated Pathologists' Assistant. Wednesday, June 25, 2014. Assistant obtained and conversations relevant to my interests. The new assistant started on Monday. He's learning all the ropes and seems keen. I'm fairly low maintenance so, I'm fine waiting until he's finished learning all the non-gyn processing and administrative tasks before making him learn any random preferences of mine (how the rack is oriented in the formalin tub matters! That Girl with the Scalpel: "On the job training with lectures"

That Girl with the Scalpel. A recently graduated Pathologists' Assistant. Monday, August 18, 2014. On the job training with lectures". A pathologist on reddit (yeah, I know, it is reddit. you can't take it too seriously) just described the Pathologist Assistant education as "on the job training with lectures". Well isn't all medical training that? August 24, 2014 at 2:38 PM. Fellow redditor here and 1st year PathA student at Duke! What a scumbag. Hopefully he or she is just one of the lame, egotistic...

That Girl with the Scalpel: A week with Voicebrook
http://thatgirlwiththescalpel.blogspot.com/2014/10/a-week-with-voicebrook.html
That Girl with the Scalpel. A recently graduated Pathologists' Assistant. Thursday, October 2, 2014. A week with Voicebrook. First off, I'm so pleased at how much I remember about navigating the software. Go me! It has made the transition smoother than it could have been otherwise. That and my keyboard is a lot more accessible than it was last time I started using voice transcription software. Right now I'm doing things around 80% with voice controls and 20% with mouse clicks and typing. I Have a Job!

The Making of a Pathologists' Assistant: Graduation!
http://pathotoko.blogspot.com/2012/12/graduation.html
The Making of a Pathologists' Assistant. Sunday, December 9, 2012. Graduation day has come! Being able to see all of my classmates and the professors who made this program possible again was very satisfying. Despite the rain nothing could dampen our spirits. Which reminds me, virtually all of us have found jobs before graduating! All is not over however! So, despite graduation, this is not the end if there’s anything I can do to help it! Thank you everyone for all of your support these past two years!

http://pathotoko.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
The Making of a Pathologists' Assistant. Friday, November 30, 2012. Last Test at School! I have been remiss in writing a blog post, but I’m happy to say that finally our last test at WVU is over and finished! It’s good to know that the only remaining test is the ASCP certification exam. I’m still registered to take it back in Fresno, California six days after the last day of our rotation. I’m feeling confident that I can pass it right now if I were to take it. Thursday, November 15, 2012. I can still rem...
