It’s been so long! September 1, 2009 at 10:33 pm · Filed under Life. I have been terrible about updating my blog, for a few reasons that I’ll explain later. For those of you that don’t know – I’m pregnant! I’m week 16 and feeling pretty good🙂. So I had my doc appt today and got to hear the babies heartbeat through the doppler! I’m hoping to attach it to this post so you can hear it! The baby is healthy and in a few weeks we’ll be able to determine the sex! I can’t wait! Baby’s Heart Beat. We did sign wi...

December 30, 2008 at 4:16 pm · Filed under Life. Just a quick update to tell everyone that we finally finished painting and decorating our bathrooms! We only have one more full bathroom to go and then we’ll be done with those. We’re starting small with the painting business so don’t be too harsh of a critic! I’m putting in links to matthew’s blog about the updates b/c he did a great job showing the pictures and such! Rel="bookmark" title="Permanent link to Quickie update" class="permalink" Permalink.

It’s been a while. March 21, 2009 at 7:19 am · Filed under Life. So I know…it’s been a while…I’m sorry – it’s not you, it’s me. Really. Of course I still love you! So first things first: If you want to keep up with me, informally of course, follow me on Twitter: http:/ twitter.com/librarianAnna. Now for the life – recent hurrah’s:. I got onto CSC! You cert...

Come Get You Some! December 19, 2008 at 11:45 am · Filed under Life. So in reference to my title of this post, the saying is from the sign of a business that I pass EVERYDAY on my way to work…and this sign is the BANE of my existance. I hate the fact that it says “Come Get You Some” in reference to money….oh vey! So I had to share my disdain with everyone else. Other interesting things that I have been doing:. I have been Knitting up a STORM and crochetting some too🙂. Matthew has those pictures that I w...

Fallout: August 2011
http://writingfallout.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Whatever falls out, whenever it has time. Tuesday, August 16, 2011. All in the Timing. This evening was a race against the clock- picked up kids from daycare (late), rushed home, baked chicken nuggets in the oven and boiled whole wheat rotini on the stove, chopped up cucumber and filled water glasses. Called them both to the table, reminding them to wash hands on the way over. Me (to Syd): Bring me your plate and glass, and put away the ketchup please. Syd: Why do I hafta do everything around here? Me: T...

Whatever falls out, whenever it has time. Saturday, June 16, 2012. A conversation between my son- age 6- and me, as I'm tucking him into bed for the night. He has mentioned a few friends, two of whom happen to be girls.). Me: Is she nice? Me: Is the other one nice? Me: Is she cute? Sam: I don't know. Me: Is she your girlfriend? Sam: No. (beat) I guess I need to get one of those. Me: One of what? Me: Oh, you have time. Me: Lots of time. Sam: Like how long? Me: I don't know. Twenty-five? Date me, D.C!

Whatever falls out, whenever it has time. Wednesday, July 18, 2012. It is amazing how clear the solutions to problems become when I look at them from a position of love, not fear. Whatever falls out, whenever it has time. Saturday, June 16, 2012. Their Taste in Music. And other more palatable selections (relative to the Wiggles). While I still give my kids liberal exposure to musical theater (they have to know their heritage, after all), and nothing warmed my heart more than having my daughter request patter songs from Into the Woods. Whatever falls out, whenever it has time. Tuesday, July 26, 2011. Twenty-one years ago tomorrow, at 8 am, the phone on the wall in the kitchen rang, and I picked it up. The caller greeted me briefly and then asked for Dad, who was also in the kitchen, having some coffee. They had an even briefer exchange that finished with, “thank you for letting me know,” and him handing me the receiver to replace in the cradle. He told me you were gone. I'm no longer afraid. But I possessed no navy shoes. I had red...

Whatever falls out, whenever it has time. Thursday, May 17, 2012. Wow, the whole Blogger interface has changed since I last posted. It's gonna take me a while to figure this all out. So much has changed, both inside and outside the blogosphere. Lots of people (famous and not) have died. Wondering if I should start a list. Isn't there a "celebrity death watch" type list that someone quasi-famous maintains? I listened to Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire". Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Whatever falls out, whenever it has time. Tuesday, July 24, 2012. On Contracts and the End of the World. It has been a banner summer so far, replete with a large-scale violent attack (see: Aurora, CO) that makes you question everything from gun control to racial profiling in the media, and a weather-related inconvenience (see: derecho. That gives you new-found appreciation for climate control. According to my son, it has to be. Witness:. In his hand.). Sam: Mommy, can I take this to camp today? Long beat...

Young Librarian + Old Cowboy
Young Librarian Old Cowboy. Sunday, April 3, 2016. My favorite Doodle dog. It is the end of an era, the death of our fine dog, Skip . He was to be named Kip, Jack said, like a good cattle dog he’d once known. But It kept coming out with an S on the front. So Skip he became. Not that the name ever mattered much to him. What mattered to him was belonging. Having a place to come home to, where there would be food and love, always. Came close into the ranch and he ran them off. “Regular” dogs...When we moved...

Morris, illustrated by Tom Lichtenheld. You'd think filming a nature documentary about moose woudln't lend itself to drama, hijinks, and laughter, but you would be wrong. The titular animal decides that he wants to do anything but moosey things, and ends up dragging the rest of the production along with him. He makes ...

Literary and Library
Wednesday, December 17, 2014. In this final blog post, we were instructed to write about what we believe we have accomplished for ourselves in this course, which I feel is a beautiful way to reflect upon a course (rather than: what could you have done better? What did you like or not like about the class? 2 One-shots are hard. Because I'm that proud. And because I'm brief! On top of that, in order to be a good librarian, you need to talk less and let them explore more, yet half of them have no idea what ...
