https://librarianandthekitchen.blogspot.com/2009/01/preserved-lemons.html
THE LIBRARIAN and THE KITCHEN: A place for storing and sharing things about food. Friday, January 2, 2009. A friend said she wished she had known about my stock before she had to buy some to make preserved lemons! Now was the time to preserve lemons, especially as I was doing a census of my empty jars. 7 large, thick-skinned lemons. 1 cup coarse kitchen salt. 3 dry bay leaves. Scrub and quarter the lemons and place in a large stainless steel bowl. Pour in salt and mix well. Cover and leave for 24 hours.

ravenous: ravenous is moving to WordPress!
http://ravenousmelbourne.blogspot.com/2010/04/ravenous-is-moving-to-wordpress.html
Friday, April 23, 2010. Ravenous is moving to WordPress! After it was made very clear at the Eat.Drink.Blog. 2010 food blogger's conference (see my wrap up of the event here. Or check out what The Age. Had to say) that WordPress was the blog platform of choice for the majority of those in attendance, I've decided to make the switch. This page will remain but no new reviews will be posted here; instead, check out ravenousmelbourne.wordpress.com. Maddy at Ravenous Melbourne. EatDrink.Blog. 2010. In defence...

Saturday, September 26, 2009. The inaugural Newtown Farmers Market. Cnr Shannon Ave and West Fyans St. Today was the first ever Newtown Farmer's Market and at 8.30 this morning, my family and I went to check it out. Sitting at the bottom of a grassy valley, the market had a good number of stallholders and patrons, despite the freezing morning wind. Screaming Seeds Spice Company, a regular at markets and a family favourite for their Dukkah. The Newtown Farmer's Market will be held on the 4th Saturday of t...

Thursday, January 28, 2010. Rowena Parade Corner Store. Ph: 03 9421 3262. When I think of those tiny little cafes and restaurants one sometimes discovers in Melbourne's many laneways, those hidden gems treasured by locals, I think of places with happy staff, fabulous food, consistently good coffee. I knew that to some Melbourne foodies, Rowena Parade was one such gem, so when I stumbled across it by accident I was expecting a unique, memorable breakfast experience. Photo: breakfastout.com.au. Tuesday, March 16, 2010. Ph: 03 9428 8659. We found out that we won Best Breakfast and we ran, and ran, and ran". When mum and I visited Demitri's Feast on a Thursday morning, we found our waitress's description of her reaction to the award a little strange, but we liked her nonetheless. It had been two days since Epicure had announced that the Cheap Eats 2010 award for Best Breakfast had been given to this graffitied Greek cafe in Swan Street, and we were indeed enjoying our breakfasts. Normally, I hate...

Monday, November 16, 2009. Breakfast on Bridge: Ilios. Ph: 03 9428 6144. Bf and I needed a quick breakfast on Bridge Road before work and I was in such a hurry that I wasn't going to worry about taking pictures or reviewing the place. After the service and food we received at Ilios, however, I couldn't not share the experience. This is is what the kitchen sent out, and a waiter delivered without question. NB: Ilios has recently been put on the market for sale. Maddy at Ravenous Melbourne. Where and what ...

But my heart's not in it. Thursday, October 2, 2014. These Are Words That Go Together Well. One of the main reasons I started thinking about blogging again, only really more of just pointless writing, storytelling, was that a song was haunting me. And that song brought with it a lot of memories. Was my personal favorite). I even wrote a paper for English on the whole Paul is Dead. Conspiracy. We were an odd little bunch, but we made it work. I knew he was brilliant. Next And then I think the White Album.
The Re-forming Librarian | Musings about Education, Information Science, and more.
Musings about Education, Information Science, and more. September 21, 2011. School is back in session, and with the beginning of every school year comes the hopes and fears of what the year will bring. I hope it will bring exciting new projects, growth, and real construction of deep knowledge; I fear that far too many students and teachers will be stuck in a rut, unable to move beyond the “standards”, as measured by so much testing. Well, then what? Creativity. Real creativity, which starts in the he...

Young Librarian + Old Cowboy
Young Librarian Old Cowboy. Sunday, April 3, 2016. My favorite Doodle dog. It is the end of an era, the death of our fine dog, Skip . He was to be named Kip, Jack said, like a good cattle dog he’d once known. But It kept coming out with an S on the front. So Skip he became. Not that the name ever mattered much to him. What mattered to him was belonging. Having a place to come home to, where there would be food and love, always. Came close into the ranch and he ran them off. “Regular” dogs...When we moved...

Morris, illustrated by Tom Lichtenheld. You'd think filming a nature documentary about moose woudln't lend itself to drama, hijinks, and laughter, but you would be wrong.
