Baking and Girlfriends (ok, ok, wine too) | The Kitchen Chemist

https://culinarychemistry.wordpress.com/2011/12/14/baking-and-girlfriends-ok-ok-wine-too

A sometimes hilarious peek into my journey of recipe perfection! Baking and Girlfriends (ok, ok, wine too). Last year, my girlfriends and I got together to do some holiday baking. There was wine and flour and laughter, and even an epic moment of the announcement one of us was pregnant! Now, I refuse to use boxed mix or canned icing. I actually enjoy the process of measuring and mixing and all that jazz. But these were just about the death of me. To make it worse, when attempting to photograph my ruined o...

We’re all Scientists | The Kitchen Chemist

https://culinarychemistry.wordpress.com/2011/12/14/were-all-scientists

A sometimes hilarious peek into my journey of recipe perfection! We’re all Scientists. Every day we practice the Scientific Method. Without thinking twice. The most convenient place we can practice science is the kitchen, and you save a ton of moolah because you don’t need a fancy degree to be a Kitchen Chemist… you just need tools and taste buds, and in some cases… the patience to deal with ruined dishes, small fires, and drowned smart phones. Baking and Girlfriends (ok, ok, wine too) →.

The Culinary Cheapskate | Good eats for less

16 March 2013 · 6:03 pm. Well I’ve gone and done something not very cheapskate-ish, which was to register a domain and move this blog over to its own little home at culinarycheapskate.com. Along with a new design, you’ll find a few new features and improvements over there, including a recipe plugin. That makes it easier to print just a recipe and not an entire blog post, and an easier-to-navigate recipe menu, which now includes categories for filtering recipes by cost and mess factor. So come check it out.

Culinary Chemistry | Experiments in Cooking

Yummy Sphagetti in Marinara sauce with Soy balls! June 10, 2007 at 5:44 pm · Filed under Uncategorized. I met Sytle when I was working in Los Alamos, New Mexico. She had come for a couple of day’s experiment time there and right from the beginning we hit off very well. We spent a very nice afternoon wandering in the Los Alamos downtown (which is actually only two streets! Even now three years later, I still make this sauce whenever I have ripe tomatoes in my fridge and marvel at its tasty simplicity.

Needless to say I fell in love with this rendition and wanted to share with all of you. 2 tablespoons unsalted butter. 1 small onion, chopped. 1 rib celery, chopped. Lower the hea...
