Musings of a public history major…. School’s Out for Summer (sorta). June 13, 2011. While it won’t officially summer until June 21st, it sure has felt like summer as of late. And summer quarter at Wright State started today. I’m looking forward to this summer. I’m not signed up for any lectures or seminars. Instead, I am starting my internship at the Wright State University Special Collections and Archives. Is it weird that I like processing collections? I was given some of the boxes containing the.

Musings of a public history major…. Z is for Zero. Finishing Spring →. Harry Baals and Butt Drugs. May 20, 2011. Did I get your attention? A couple of weekends ago I traveled to Corydon, Indiana. With a couple of friends. We went to visit a drug store. Why drive 3 hours to a drugs store? Because it’s Butt Drugs. What’s in a name? That which we call a rose. By any other name would smell as sweet. This entry was posted in History. Z is for Zero. Finishing Spring →. May 21, 2011 at 8:01 am. I know about Wal...

Located on a caldera, the park is full of beautiful hot springs and geysers, with Old Faithful being the most famous of the geysers. This entry was posted in April A-Z Blog Challenge. I nev...

Musings of a public history major…. Harry Baals and Butt Drugs. School’s Out for Summer (sorta) →. June 4, 2011. The end of spring term at Wright State is fast approaching. For some lucky students it may already be over, but I still have to get through finals week next week. I’m taking a history of architecture class, as well. I’ll admit I signed up for it not so much because I like architecture, but because I needed the credits and it fit into my schedule. However, I’ve really ...June 5, 2011 at 12:33 pm.

Musings of a public history major…. Y is for Yellowstone National Park. Harry Baals and Butt Drugs →. Z is for Zero. May 10, 2011. Finally, I’m at Z (better late than never, considering it is May and this blog is part of the A-Z Blog Challenge)! Since I don’t know about any interesting people (okay, I do, but they might not appreciate appearing in my blog), places or things that begin with the letter Z, I thought I’d finish finish the alphabet with some randomness about zero. If you could go anywhere today, where would you go? The Path of a Pioneer Girl. New Zealand →. Cedar Point: America’s Roller Coast! May 23, 2011. When it comes to summer fun, Cedar Point is always on my list. In my opinion, if you are a fan of roller coasters, and I most definitely am, Cedar Point is a must-visit destination. There are so many coasters (17 in total), that just riding them takes about all day! Millennium Force and Maverick are my absolute favorites. These are the best roller coasters!

Thoughts on public history. Interpreting the Presidential Past. Visiting museums – a social experience →. Historic Preservation – for me, a blessing and a curse. April 9, 2011. This is a blessing because I have a new appreciation for our country’s beautiful architecture, a curse because I can’t look at beautiful modern houses like a normal person – I’m an historic house snob. Original house on the right, built circa 1809. Original house, plus additions, plus restaurant. Interpreting the Presidential Past.

Thoughts on public history. Visiting museums – a social experience. September 11, 2001 – Where were you? April 25, 2011. I love the History Channel. I know I probably shouldn’t – there are a lot of sensationalized stories, sketchy research, and reality shows – but I can’t help it. This program includes personal stories taken from letters and interviews, official Nazi footage, and home movies taken by people affected by Hitler (which doesn’t narrow the pool down much, does it? 8221; Yikes.). 8211; great s...
