Just another WordPress.com site. November 28, 2011. I made my own rear wheel out of foam. I got two blocks of foam. Cut them semi circular on the band saw. Glued them around my hub of my wheel. Filled it in with rough poly filler add to realization of a tyre. Sanded the corners round. For my axle i simply put two bushing into the original bearing. This slideshow requires JavaScript. I liked the idea of it and it kept well with my theme of random things being used to add to the profile of the bike. It was the hardest part to do. I had to take into the account of the curve on the back of the seat. The curve of the wheel. And allow for the wood to be able to be bent around the curve. I bent the metal strips using the roller.

I am now in the process of spraying the bike. I firstly applied high build primer before adding the colour in which I wanted for my bike. Between each coat I sanded clumps of paint to ensure I generate the correct finish in which I want. I will apply lacquer at the finish to give the bike an overall shine and gloss finish.
