走近门洞式的石门一看，其实不是什么 寨门 ，而是凹进寨墙内的，类似 猫儿洞 的一个石窝铺。 据 钟祥县志 记载 马头山寨周长800多米长，山寨呈东西向窄长分布，南北宽约百米，而东西长约300多米。 在山顶西部的一块空地上留下了石碾盘、石磨盘残件，在场地上还留下不少清代的碑石，其中一块是有关建寨时 诸氏捐赠田亩 碑，还有一块被埋在寨墙脚，上有捐赠文银的 功德无私 碑和砌在寨墙体上的嘉庆九年雕刻精美的石碑，由于嵌入寨墙体内，无法看到碑文。 走近马头山寨，给人一个强烈的印象是 从其高筑的石城墙，依山而分层次建造的石头墙房舍，坚固的防御工事，仓储及给排水系统，整个布局结构严密而又坚实，居住等级森严，组织严密，管理有序等方面均体现了 城堡 的独特与品位。 最佳使用效果 1024*768 分辨率 建议使用IE5.5以上. 公安机关备案号 42060202000041 工信部备案 鄂ICP备13011032号-1.
