Thursday, 28 August 2008. Gandan monastery. this temple contains a 26 meter high 20 ton gilded statue of migjid janraisig. Our trusty 4x4 van. Our accomodation for the next 6 days.gers. Madame butterfly. she was so excited to show us her catch that she rendered the poor thing unable to fly. throwing it didn't work either. Hiking above terkhiin tsagaan nuur (white lake). Horseridin' to the volcano. Crater. this volcano erupted 8000 years ago. And the debris can be seen for miles. The town of tsetserleg.

Kolkata.the once capital of british india. still regarded by indians as the cultural capital, is filled with crumbling stately buildings and wide boulevards. India's national pastime and obsession.cricket at new market. Real coffee at flury's, a stylish art deco cafe. Every era of architecture is represented in kolkata. this one.50's style. We heard these human powered 'tana rickshaws' were banned. not so. Lookin' out our hotel window. Why so serious little man?

Monday, 8 February 2010. Nestled beneath the massive illampu (6400m) the tranquil town of sorata. On an afternoon walk, we rise above sorata. We make it to sucre (bolivia's 'white city') just in time for new years. With friends brad and sarah we had met way back in ecuador. 24 hours later and this guy finally gets some sleep, on a bar stool. Off we go on our 3 day 4wd tour of salar de uyuni and the reserva eduardo avaroa. first stop of the tour.the train cemetery. Our salt brick hotel and replica llama.

Wednesday, 18 February 2009. After many stupid o'clock train arrivals, we were finally rewarded with an amazing sunrise at haldwani station. For the next two weeks we spent our time volunteering for ROSE (rural organisation for social elevation). staying with founder jeevan and his family in the village of kanda, located in the himalayan foothills. Saturday, 26 July 2008. Delicious pakistani in tooting with mark and jenny. Drinks at the loft with some of the carphone crew. Sarah and ben get hitched in the OBE chapel at st. pauls cathedral. Routemasters take us to blackfriars pier where we enjoy boat cruise to greenwich. Champagne reception at the royal naval college. Best wedding cake ever. dinner in the painted hall.
