In which Nepal proves to me the stupidity of my own decisions. Also I heard of taxis being smashed up so really I got away lightly. We are heading to Pokhara tomorrow which is more chilled out and frankly after that I think I need it. The experience, however, hasn’t diminished my appreciation for Nepal, with which I seem to become more fascinated every day. On May 15, 2011 at 12:01 pm Comments (4). To TrackBack this entry is:. Thailand begins | wandering with intent

https://wanderingwithintent.wordpress.com/2011/06/09/thailand-in-which-i-learn-the-meaning-of-the-words-language-barrier

I arrived in Chaiyaphum. Once again the word rural, which to me meant a field with maybe a shack or two, was redefined. While many people in the area are rice farmers, a ‘village’ has houses larger than my parents’ and every kind of amenity is available. On June 9, 2011 at 7:37 am Comments (1). Thailand: Isaan Uncovered | wandering with intent

https://wanderingwithintent.wordpress.com/2011/06/17/thailand-isaan-uncovered

The area is so beautiful: rice fields in various states of growth, lakes, rivers, forested mountains, vast skies with gorgeous sunsets. I could sit and stare at it for hours and, and always in this situation, feel a bit indignant when I see a local person walk by a stunning vista with indifference. Places what I am visiting. Archive for April, 2011. Arriving in a City as vibrant as Amsterdam presented a nice change from the boredom of Rotterdam. Perhaps I’m being too harsh on Rotterdam. It might be a great place and we just somehow managed to miss all the cool and fun stuff. We once again found ourselves staying in a. Hostel, and although the building wasn’t quite as quirky as Rotterdam’s. Regardless I was still able to enjoy the football as I sipped away on my 5 “pint” of Jupiler. ...Full of food ...

Places what I am visiting. 08/07/2011 at 12:16 am. The journey to Split took about 4.5 hours which isn’t too bad considering it’s all along coastal roads and the bus can’t get up to any decent speed. Upon our arrival we headed to. Hostel Booze and Snooze. Located in the Old Town of Split. Although it was less than 1km from the station it took a little while to find due to Google Maps being completely useless. After checking in we headed out to. Places what I am visiting. Making a daily commute by train in England isn’t much fun. The trains are regularly late and you will often not get a seat. However, after my experience of the Serbian train network I don’t think I’ll be making any complaints about National Rail for quite some time. Places what I am visiting. Berlin: crossing the wall. 15/05/2012 at 5:26 pm. The last time I was in Berlin I had too much to drink. The resulting hangover meant that there was still a lot of the city which I didn’t get to see. With this is mind I arrived in Berlin determined to see as much as possible. Other obvious points of interest are the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag. You can either get there by subway or if you don’t mind a 20 minute walk it’s easy to get to from the Cathedral. Since it became a permanent settlement in the 520s Belgrade has been involved in 115 wars and razed to the ground 44 times. There must be something good about the place if the Serbs have been so keen to keep rebuilding it. Either that or they are just very industrious. In the morning we headed to the. Places what I am visiting. 03/07/2011 at 7:00 pm. There is no train station in Dubrovnik. The train line which used to go there was closed in 1976. Not sure why. As a result it is not the easiest of places to get to, unless you are travelling by aeroplane. The journey from Sofia to Dubrovnik is just over 700km. A similar length journey would be to travel from Truro to Newcastle. Unfortunately the shoddy infrastructure of the Balkans makes the whole experience somewhat frustrating. A travel blog from America to Thailand and everywhere in between. Monday, May 9, 2016. Marina Bay Sands Hotel. The Marine Bay Sands hotel, as seen from the harbor. From certain angles it seems that the water just drops off the edge into the city below. No need to be nervous about swimming up to the edge, there are plenty of barriers between you and the ground.
