http://urbanfarmcartproject.blogspot.com/2008/08/lucious-summer.html

Urban Farm Cart Project. Designing a new tool for a new generation of farmers. Friday, August 1, 2008. The onions are tall, the dill is feathery and fragrant, the lavendar is flowering, the sage is full and that beautiful greenish-blue colour, there is enough basil for lots of pesto and the tomato plants seem ready to produce fruit anytime now. It's so fun to watch the garden grow with each rain fall and sunny day. Posted by Sarah di Nicola Tranum. August 5, 2008 at 2:56 PM. Sarah hosts World House Radio...

Urban Farm Cart Project. Designing a new tool for a new generation of farmers. Monday, June 30, 2008. I mentioned previously that there is alot of debris in the empty lot, left over from the factory that used to be there. As such there are always interesting things to find on the ground, including rusty rebar and thin strips of metal. These metal objects have a much nicer effect on the fence behind the garden than lying on the ground. Posted by Sarah di Nicola Tranum. Sunday, June 29, 2008. I unloaded th...

Celadon and Honey Bees. How I'm Getting Through Grad School. Tuesday, May 26, 2009. The bed now holds 4 different varieties of tomatoes, cucumbers, dark green zucchini, 4 varieties of hot peppers, one sweet pepper, cilantro, basil, lavender, purple sage, rosemary, Italian parsley, marigolds, nasturtiums, and some pretty purple flowers that I couldn't resist. Hopefully Michael's parents will reap a great bounty off the plot for the rest of the summer! Monday, May 25, 2009. Madsen bikes make me happy.

Celadon and Honey Bees. How I'm Getting Through Grad School. Wednesday, February 11, 2009. We toured around the Mission, ate breakfast at Tartine, saw a lot of incredible murals, ate fantastic burritos and then shopped our hearts out at Paxton Gate, where we aquirred a lovely beaver skull and some Japanese gardening scissors. Portland was fantastic, somewhere we both want to move to, just not quite yet. The music, the beer, the insane farmers market (complete with a biscuits and gravy stand! One of the d...

Urban Farm Chicago

Wednesday, October 21, 2009. Sweetwater Growers, Inc. Just doing a little research on the Urban Farm idea and came across Sweetwater Growers, Inc. They hydroponically produce basil and microgreens, which they then sell to Whole Foods. It sounds as though they can't grow it quick enough, with Whole Foods taking it all off their hands as soon as it harvested. I may have to discuss with this guy and see how viable it has been for him cost wise. Will keep you all posted as to what I find out. I also started ...
