Going Trackside: October 2014
http://goingtrackside.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 21, 2014. Railfanning Syracuse, NY October 5-6, 2014. As the title suggests, myself and my girlfriend made a trip to Syracuse, New York on October 5th and 6th to do a bit of shopping, as well as some train watching on the CSX mainline. On this trip, I got very lucky with the variety of power that was around. After we had finished up shopping, it was time to go catch some trains on camera! An interesting note about 7587 is that it was the last GE C40-8 to wear CSX's Stealth paint scheme.

Going Trackside: The Drive: Part III (Minneapolis - Weyburn)
http://goingtrackside.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-drive-part-iii-minneapolis-weyburn.html
Wednesday, May 13, 2015. The Drive: Part III (Minneapolis - Weyburn). After a quick overnight stay in Minneapolis, we continued on our way. This is the final, and longest leg of the trip to Weyburn from Ottawa. The day, wasn't the best weather wise, as we drove through a snow storm from Minneapolis until almost to Fargo. After the storm cleared, the winds were roaring at what must have been at least 80 kilometres per hour. Not the best for railfanning, or driving to say the least. As we approached the ta...

Going Trackside: April 2015
http://goingtrackside.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 29, 2015. The Drive: Part II (Chicago - Minneapolis). After spending the night at Mile North. Chicago, a very nice hotel downtown, we began the days trip to Minneapolis. Rather than taking the quickest route, we decided to go via La Crosse, Winona and the Mississippi River. We did this for the scenery, as well as to follow the Burlington Northern Santa Fe's St. Croix Subdivision. Google Maps view of our drive from Chicago to Minneapolis. Pushing north and west, we crossed back over the r...

Confessions of a Train Geek: Elie's Station
http://blog.traingeek.ca/2010/08/elies-station.html
Confessions of a Train Geek. The world's longest running railway blog. Monday, August 02, 2010. I was in Elie, Manitoba a while ago and saw this structure. This HAS to have been a railway station. The style just screams "station" to me, from the freight door on the left to the slight bumped out center section to the lack of ground level windows on the ends, and the roof line. A cursory Google search showed nothing but I'm convinced this was a train station. Anyone have any proof? 2 August 2010 at 19:42.

Going Trackside: June 2015
http://goingtrackside.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, June 27, 2015. Shortline Profile, Episode 1: Stewart Southern Railway. After starting the Abandoned Rails series, I decided that I would do something similar, only for currently active shortlines. The first profile will be that of the Stewart Southern Railway (SSR) which operates 132 km over the former Canadian Pacific Tyvan Subdivision. GMTX 2219, and 2222 head south into Stoughton, May 2, 2015. MOW equipment working on the SSR in May 2015. Originally, the main commodity to be shipped on the S...

Going Trackside: February 2015
http://goingtrackside.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 25, 2015. After only ten short months in Ottawa, it appears that I am moving on again already. This time, to Weyburn, Saskatchewan. Luckily for me, and you the reader, this means that I will be much closer to the railway scene than I am now, as Weyburn is located directly on CP's mainline between Vancouver and Chicago. Looking forward to this next chapter of life, posts will follow once the trip is complete, and we are settled in. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Confessions of a Train Geek. The world's longest running railway blog. Monday, July 12, 2010. BNSF 1685 Handover Ceremony Friday.
