The Observatory Restaurant - Portland, Oregon

http://www.theobservatorypdx.com/overandoutbar.php

Down the hallway from The Observatory is the Over and Out, which has the same owners, kitchen and staff. The vibe is as comfortable and friendly as the restaurant up front, but Over and Out has a more laid back, sporty feel. With pinball machines, TVs and a pool table, it’s a great neighborhood spot.

The Observatory Restaurant - Portland, Oregon

http://www.theobservatorypdx.com/aboutus.php

When The Observatory opened its doors in December of 2008, it became an instant anchor of the Montavilla neighborhood in Southeast Portland. Built by two young couples with years of restaurant experience, both the space and the menu were designed to have something for everyone. The Observatory does elegant dinners, quick lunches, inventive happy hour snacks, delicious cocktails and amazing desserts. The Observatory also features rotating seasonal soups and specials.

Peace, Love, and All The Good Stuff: October 2014

Peace, Love, and All The Good Stuff. BLACKTOP ADVENTURES- GREAT FINDS- JUNKIN' OBSERVATIONS. Tuesday, October 21, 2014. FABULOUS FALL JUNKIN ADVENTURE. I'm blessed to be able to spend a lot of quality time in the Pacific NW. And even more blessed to have so many talented friends. To visit while I'm there. During my most recent adventure I arrived in time to go to one the most talked about new shows, Today's Country FARM and Frills Antique Show. Today's Country FARM and Frills Antique Show. Geek Girl Soup: September 2014

http://www.geekgirlsoup.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Geek Girl Soup - Interpreting pop culture from a geek girl's point of view. Wednesday, September 24, 2014. Portland and the Rose City Comic Con 2014. The bad news: I might be Comic-Conned out for a while. The good news: I've really enjoyed all of the events I've gone to this summer. However, I knew I’d be visiting a cousin in Portland, so I scheduled that trip to coincide with the RCCC. TANGENT: That afternoon Mom and I took our 95-year old cousin out to lunch at The Observatory. When the floor opened, i...

dining in the dark: April 2011

http://wwwdininginthedark.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Monday, April 11, 2011. It has been over six months since we posted on this blog. My dinner companion and I have each missed doing this but we've been extremely busy with other distractions. We were each mentally and physically exhausted today so when it turned out that today was a payday of sorts, we decided that we deserved a special event like "Dining in the Dark". We started our dinner with a really good appetizer which was described as a spinach artichoke cheese dip. It came with half a baguette...

dining in the dark: January 2012

http://wwwdininginthedark.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Monday, January 30, 2012. I had only the day before accidentally stumbled upon the website of a eat and drinkery in that part of the city and was eager to give it a try. I mean, that is what this "Dining In the Dark blog" is all about, right? Well apparently, Debbie was just hungry enough to follow my lead so we parked the "rig" and strolled right into the Breakside Brewery. Like a couple of rockstars. There were more than a few things that I wanted to try but I decided to go with the Pulled Pork Sandwich.

dining in the dark: August 2010

http://wwwdininginthedark.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Friday, August 20, 2010. Once again we have dined outside the box, as it were, and lived to dine again another day! This time the cuisine was from India. We chose a small restaurant in NW Portland called Swagat. We admitted our ignorance of Indian cuisine early on and she patiently explained the various terms, types of food, and how it is normally enjoyed. This was Debbie's choice. It was called Chicken Saag. Essentially, it is chunks of chicken breast cooked in a mild spinach curry. This is the bread th...

dining in the dark: October 2010

http://wwwdininginthedark.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Wednesday, October 13, 2010. This was our second attempt to eat at the Screen Door. A couple of weeks ago we came by for the Sunday brunch. However, the line of customers came out the door and around the corner and it was raining that day. That is a good sign in my book but not that day. We just rolled on by. Tonight we were looking for some of the best southern fried chicken in town. The restaurant featured a nice area for outside seating. How did this magic happen? Friday, October 8, 2010. My salad was...

dining in the dark: December 2011

http://wwwdininginthedark.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, December 28, 2011. Jam on Hawthorne Cafe and Arthouse. Now this place is anything but fancy but don't let that discourage you. There are secrets hiding behind all of that plain Jane decor. Unfortunately, the restaurant doesn't have a web site for me to offer a link to their menu. Since they don't have a web site yet, let me just add their address. This place is located in Southeast Portland at: 2239 Se Hawthorne Blvd, Portland, OR 97214. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Have you gotten in a rut?
