Wherever our wheels take us. Thursday, September 15, 2011. A Leaning Tower, Sun, Surf and Steep Climbs. On our way to The Cinque Terre we had a short stop in Pisa to check out the leaning tower. When the bus stopped we were swarmed by African people selling sunglasses, umbrellas and almost any other cheap trinket you may be looking for. With the thousands of tourist visiting this area the tour buses have a large parking area and from there we take a local bus to a drop off point. The latest was in 1990.

Wherever our wheels take us. Saturday, March 23, 2013. The morning we left Cape Town we woke up to rain. This caught us off guard as the skies seemed very clear the evening before and the forecast did not call for rain. So we set off for Paarl after another wonderful breakfast at An African Villa. Anyone planning a stay in Cape Town I would recommend this Guest House. A Tribute to the Afrikaans Language. Before leaving Paarl we stopped for a visit to the Nederburg. Here I paid about $7.50. I was wonderin...

Wherever our wheels take us. Sunday, September 9, 2012. Inside Passage, Alaska. After being back home from Kananaskis for a week we drove to Vancouver where we boarded the Celebrity Century for a 7 day Inside Passage cruise to Alaska. The scenery is absolutely stunning. Yes, it could be argued that Alberta Rocky Mountain scenery is equally as stunning. Our cruise through the inside passage took us through Johnstone Strait travelling very close to land on both sides of the ship. 65279;. There we were me...

Wherever our wheels take us. Saturday, October 1, 2011. Our first stop is Assisi. St Francis, while born in Assisi and spent so much of his life is not the patron saint of Assisi. This honour goes to St. Rufino who was also the first bishop of Assisi in the 3. Century. Assisi dates back to the 3. Century and became a flourishing Roman municipality. After the fall of the Roman Empire Assisi went through a considerable period of wars and ruled by the Goths and later the Byzantine and later the Lombards.

Wherever our wheels take us. Saturday, October 27, 2012. Our Liverpool and London Visit. Before London, we spent 3 days in Liverpool getting together with Sue a second cousin of Donna and Diane. It was wonderful to also meet Sue’s former sister-in-law and best friend Carol and her partner Dave. We had a wonder afternoon and dinner together. The following day Ron and Brenda from Newton Le Willows were kind enough to drive to Liverpool to spend time with us. Is now a vibrant and happening part of the City.

Wherever our wheels take us. Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Remembering the Past and Embracing the Future. Today we spend much of the day touring around Durban. While there are a few familiar sites, there was so much that I did not recall. Our driver took us along the beach front but since we had spent time there yesterday we did not stop. We did get a chance to see some of the harbour as we drove along the Esplanade. It is just as big as I remember. Vasco da Gama Clock, 1897. I must say it reminds me of ...

Wherever our wheels take us. Tuesday, January 1, 2013. 8220;Home is home even for these who aspire to serve wider interests and who have established their home of choice in distant regions”. We wish our family and friends a very happy, healthy and safe 2013. At this time of each year I reflect back to the year 2000 when we watched on television as each country around the world celebrated the New Year. Travel is a wonderful way of meeting people and experiencing their ways and sharing our ways with others.

Our Adventures: The Cape Overberg
http://plus60adventures.blogspot.com/2013/04/the-cape-overberg.html
Wherever our wheels take us. Thursday, April 4, 2013. This morning we woke up to another day of brilliant sunshine and blue skies. We have been very fortunate on this trip in that we have very little rain or overcast days. Our destination today is the resort village Hermanus, a drive of about 3 hours. We left Franshhoek and immediately climbed about 13 km over the Franschoek Pass. We had fantastic views of the valley. We had previously driven along the other side of False Bay on our drive to Cape Point.
