Super Señorita's Spanish Stuff. And other useful classroom ideas! Laquo; What was that file called again? Using Duolingo in the classroom. Google docs without a million emails. On October 4, 2013. My school became a Google only school a few years ago and so our kids don’t print anymore, but they “share” their docs. It’s a very cool feature, but frankly, I hate receiving 110 emails titled “Bobby M. has shared. 8221; Here’s my work-around:. Anyone with the link can edit. Here’s a SAMPLE. You are commenting...

Super Señorita's Spanish Stuff. And other useful classroom ideas! Using Duolingo in the classroom. I have been thinking about getting back into blogging for a little while now and today I’ve decided is as good a day as any! I started this blog as a way to share time-saving ideas with teachers, but I think I am going to expand now to include snap shots from my own classroom in the hopes that it will help fellow Spanish teachers or anyone that is just looking for some new ideas! Plus – NO PREP!

I can’t take credit for this because I got the idea from my friend Holly, but I think it’s a great one! They draw on the plastic page protector and erase when they finish. Then I recollect the pages and reuse them with the next class! Posted in Classroom management. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

Another time saver: Have kids help you! You don’t have time to cut out 24 puzzles with nine pieces each. The first time I make something new, I let my first class cut out the pieces and then it’s ready for all future groups. Here are some puzzle sentences I use with my students that I use this trick with! Spanish: Gustar verb puzzle sentences.

Adventures in brewing and entrepreneurism. During a recession. Laquo; Yeast Starters. March 23, 2011 by PJ. Caligula. Craziest bastard pictured in the post. We’re a little bit insane. Who isn’t, right? Maybe we’re a little bit madder than most. Moving right along. Last night we met with Josh again, and he had a great idea: write down a list of people from history who were crazy. Adventures in brewing and entrepreneurism. During a recession. Laquo; Alternating Proprietorship. Putting my plans on hold. No no, I’ve got this. June 16, 2011 by PJ. Some great stories start with “I’ve totally got this”. Stories of epic disasters and drunken failures. In other news, no new news on any front. To cross metaphors, I’ve got some irons in the fire that I’m waiting on before I make my next move on sailing the ship. More on that toward the end of next week, hopefully. Any news since this post?

Adventures in brewing and entrepreneurism. During a recession. Laquo; No no, I’ve got this. Putting my plans on hold. December 26, 2011 by PJ. Bookmark, not a closed book. I’ve been meaning to write this post for a while, but the story within is my excuse. I’ll get into the details in a second, but here’s the meat of it: Mad Haven is on hold for the time being. I don’t have a set timeline to pick it back up, but I do plan to open it one day. That day is just not today. Here’s the story:. The site has inc...

Deaf children failed by LAs and more likely to be abused. Research commissioned for the National Deaf Children's Society by the University of Manchester, and published in Every Child Journal, has revealed that social care and child protection services across England are failing deaf children and their families. As a result, deaf children are more likely to be abused, suffer mental health problems, struggle learning to read and become unemployed. Charities call for greater parental engagement. David Hopki...

Tuesday, November 15, 2016. 50th Day of School Activities. We finally made it to the 50th Day of school. We have been counting down the days! The kiddos were so excited! To start 50's day off, we went to our city museum and saw items that were used in our past. This was a great way to learn about how things were then and how they are different now when we got back to our classroom. We learned about the clothes they wore and the schooling they received way back when. Hidden picture during math time. I cop...

April 6, 2010. Spring is here. so at least we think so, I can't really tell anymore under all of the SNOW! Then next day my friend Nancy invited me to go to the Festival of Colors in Spanish Fork. Honestly I have never experienced anything like this! It was so much fun and I recommend it to all, and plan to go again next year:) Being covered in chalk, standing up against complete strangers and singing Holi Krishna at the top of your lungs, ya nothing beats that! I had a blast in Idaho, I love my family!

Teaching is indeed a tough job (I submit our high rate of quitting as evidence - half of teachers quit within their first 5 years of teaching, according to the Washington Post. I expect the more deviant kids to question everything I do, especially in the first few weeks of this. However, I also expect my content to be meaningful enough to be worth their time. I wonder if the average high school teacher would be willing to do this. Http:/ geekaca...

TinkerPlots Dynamic Data Exploration Software. June 24, 2013. Setting the Font Size in TinkerPlots. Yesterday, I was messing around (instead of grading quizzes) and noticed the Preferences Menu. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I can control the font size used in the case cards and case tables. I can increase the font to 18, which would be great when projecting in class, and I can decrease the font to 11, which would be better for printing.
