Dancing the Story | Teaching on the Wind

Teaching on the Wind. Thoughts and whisperings from the wild wind that is middle school education. August 24, 2016. It’s no secret that I love dance. And so I’m always excited when I manage to find some more opportunities for dance at my school. We have two auditioned performance troupes this year (post stage challenge), but what I’m always looking for are opportunities for anyone to get involved in dance, and for students to explore their own choreography. What were they hoping their dance would achieve?

Teaching on the Wind. Thoughts and whisperings from the wild wind that is middle school education. June 16, 2016. I keep finding it hard to write a blog post. Hard to find time to stop and actually. I’ve set myself a goal to blog more – so expect to hear (read? July 24, 2016 at 8:40 pm. You are ...

Fitness and Marathon Running. Coding isn’t some niche skill. It really is the new literacy. The nature of work has fundamentally changed. Today, it is no longer humans who do most of the work it’s machines. Think about it every day, humans make 3.5 billion Google searches. It’s machines that carry out that work not humans. But machines are only able to do all this work because humans tell them exactly what to do. And the only way for humans to do this is by writing software. May 28, 2016. May 28, 2016.

Fitness and Marathon Running. Quizzes Can Help Students Learn. Quizzes can help students learn because it helps them identify what they know and what they don’t know. I have found the areas bolded in the text below to be true when I’ve used Kahoot for maths and science. Still early days, but will continue to incorporate into my programme. And that feedback need not be immediate to be most effective. 1) Quizzes help students learn: Find out what they do/don’t know. Retrieved on 26 May 2016 from:. I am fas...

Emergent curriculum and play-based learning the Reggio way. 5 Lessons from Camp. August 6, 2015. What struck me most after he barreled down the hill and into my arms was how brilliantly camps and their counselors work to build relationships with kids, quickly and deeply, so that after only 3 nights my son was firmly attached to the young men who had been caring for him. What could teachers learn from them as we barrel towards the inevitability of a new school year? I write a lot. Themselves. Their ac...
