Dah Ki Mi – Our House. Tahltan territory is located in northern British Columbia, Canada and encompasses about 93,500 km2. The north/western border runs parallel to the Alaskan/Canadian border, and includes part of the Yukon Territory. The south/eastern border includes the upper Nass tributaries and western half of the Stikine plateau, including the sacred headwaters of the Stikine, Nass and Skeena rivers. Dah Ki Mi – Our House. Wellness was an important part of traditional Tahltan culture. It was more than just physical health; it was a philosophy based on the idea of harmony between mind, body and spirit. Imbalance in one of these resulted in unwellness or illness. Dah Ki Mi – Our House. The Tahltan language is Na-Dene (or Athapaskan) and is typically grouped with Tagish and Kaska as distinct dialects within a single language family. Tahltan, like all Na-Dene languages, is based in oral tradition. That means that historically it was taught and learned almost exclusively through oral communication such as dialogue, story, song and dance. It is only recently that a formal Tahltan system of writing has been developed.
