The Story Board: March 2012
http://a-saldivar.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 22, 2012. Yes, I Do Want to Win. After planning to focus on something besides illustrated recipes, they announced a big contest on They Draw and Cook. I entered two illustrations and thought I’d do what I always do - keep quiet about it. That way I could: A) not jinx it; and B) pretend it didn’t really matter anyway. Could I actually treat my family to dinner someplace that doesn’t have freakish cartoon mascots? If I don’t get a mention, I’ll probably go into the kind of slump...Friday, M...

The Story Board: August 2012

Wednesday, August 15, 2012. Recently I designed an icon and ads for a calculus app for the Android Market. It's an interesting challenge to design something that looks good at a variety of sizes and screen resolutions, especially knowing it'll end up on a small device. Plus, with so many apps out there to choose from, I really wanted my Calculus Genie to stand out. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Visit My Zazzle Shop:. New From My Shop:. Friday, July 27, 2012. When So-So Will Have to Do. Here's the first of nearly 300 slides I want to put in a family slide show. It's my mom at her bridal shower. Nice haul, by the way - just look at that bin full of gifts! Unfortunately, this slide show has been far too long in the making. That was eight years ago. Obviously we don't get many rainy days here. We've had our share of stormy times, though, and the slides were left to gather dust under my bed. So, what'll it be? Wednesday, July 11, 2012.

Disposables Can't Keep Up. Many of my readers know that I'm a cloth-diapering mama. I have sung its praises over and again, and I have guided many along in their quest to begin using cloth diapers. (Read this post. I start with a BumGenius pocket diaper, trifold a Hemp Babies insert, and stuff it in the pocket under the full-size insert. Then I layer another Flip cover over top of the BG just to keep it all together and add extra protection. Voila! 1 I get to sleep through the night. Ahhh. A CUP OF JO.

What I Learned From Watching the 2012 Olympics. Well, eight months later and a completely busted New Year's resolution to blog once a week, here I am. I'm not making any promises about writing regularly because I don't want to break them. But for now, I thought I'd share my recent life lesson- what I learned from watching the Olympics. I tried to correct her, but I guess it really wasn't that far off. My two-year-old started out yelling USA! But she usually switched to "Go Pokes! 1 The commercials. Y...

Editor Joy: Where Are All the Writers?
http://plantingbamboo.blogspot.com/2012/02/where-are-all-writers.html
Where Are All the Writers? Photo courtesy of shutterhacks. Recently, I did a book review at my local SCBWI. Chapter's monthly meeting. I'm always inspired and informed at our meetings, but this time I walked away with two significant inspirations:. 1 I was encouraged to polish an old manuscript and submit it for a manuscript critique at the SCBWI OK spring conference. I'll blog about it after I get the critique back. I actually surprised myself at how excited I was to write something I was proud of.

Photo courtesy of Vick the Viking. It's a quickie, but I wanted to check in. I got such an overwhelming response of encouragement and advice last time I blogged. Also, as I'm sorting out this new "normal" for my life, here are the things I'm trying to make the chaos a little more controlled:. Done That feels good.
