Monday, March 5, 2007. Cien Años de Soledad. I made exactly the same comparison in Marquez's use of magic realism to that of Esquivel and Allende and it's interesting to see the influence of one writer on others. I think one of the reasons we find the latter 'bad' writers is that they are basically imitating Marquez(originality and imagination being an impotant criterion for good literature).
