Been wanting to look under the roof lip strip since 1987 when I did some minor repairs - which have pretty much lasted the time and saved the roof lip. On the face if it the lip was pretty good - however two minor cuts with a hacksaw and the finishing strip was off to reveal rust! My Modified GT6 Blog. Saturday, September 29, 2007. Nothing been happening for a month or so! Since the chassis was sent to the blasters not been upto much apart from working on the cage fabrication. Using 48mm o/d seamless tube 3.5mm thick - going to welded it into the shell. Rear hoop and 1/2 the front cage done. Monday, September 17, 2007. Anyway going to use a complete Volvo steering column/ignition barrel so only problem is attaching it the the GT6 rack. So easy mod really - cut down the existing shaft. Chop a bit of the out sleave from where the clap is - which happens to have the same o/d as the Volvo steering knuckle - less a machine flat. Tickle it round with the tig. Going for the sing...

Dropped a couple of bushes down from the cradle with M12 bolts so should stop any movement or twist, also some 4mm plate for seat belt mounts. Next need to fab up a turret for the. Using the Volvo steering column has serveral advantages - one being its completely adjustable - up and down and forwards and back ward - unlike the micky mouse Triumph arrangement. Also means I can plug the Volvo wiring loom straight in - so no messing around with 2 looms - indicators, lights, ignition barrell etc. Will obviously disable the air bag for track use - but all that said a modern safety upgrade? 2000 – 5200.
