Friday, March 27, 2015. I must say it looks like I am turning into a bit of a Dresden Plate addict. I don't know what it is, but I love them. A while back my lovely friend gave me a packet of little Dresden paper pieces and my sister gave me a bit of fabric with gorgeous toy animals printed on it. They know me well. Then a trip to A Little Different (a shop in Geelong, a gorgeous shop in Geelong) for some teeny tiny cutsie prints and I've done a few. They are about 8cm in diameter, bit fiddly, but fun.

Monday, June 16, 2014. When it comes to sewing methods, I am neither obsessive nor compulsive. I really struggle to keep things in any sort of control really. My stitching is done at "my" end of the sofa, under a good lamp. I know it'll fail, but I'll try. If I can just follow through, all I'll need on hand is a needle, a thimble and scissors. No mess! You see, once I'd done some blocks I couldn't resist seeing what they looked like with their surrounding background fabric. Labels: Patchwork and Quilting.

As any woman with a crafty tendency knows, you never throw them out. Consequently after many decades of stitching, you have gathered yourself a substantial stash which showcases nicely the changing trends and fads of both your own creative tendencies and what the market has offered. Did a set of six ferns on Irish linen, gave them away.

Wednesday, May 21, 2014. I'm loving English hand piecing. I've always been a fan of hand work and traditional techniques. How many times have quilters and embroiders heard the phrase "oh, I haven't got the patience for that".but much as machine piecing is quicker, I haven't got the patience for that! Sitting at the machine with tiny scraps of fabric, making sure the seam allowances are accurate and placement is spot on, drives me a bit crazy. These are the corner ones. I DO know Patrick dies though :(.

Sunday, December 28, 2014. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does, it feels good. That would be the completion of a quilt I'm talking about! Grandma's Garden, my second English Paper pieced quilt. I really enjoyed doing this one.
