Shelby Kifer – Bass Trombone. Shelby began playing the bass trombone in the 9th grade at the very pointed and purposeful suggestion of his band director. It’s all history from there. Mr Kifer currently plays a Michael Rath R9 bass trombone with a Griego .25 mouthpiece. He has also very much enjoyed playing the University of Iowa’s Kanstul 1690 contrabass trombone.
