Tuesday, August 20, 2013. Alaina had a tea party with a friend (despite the major height difference, they're only about 8 months apart in age):. Hunting for sea glass with me on a rocky beach in Maine:. We had fun building sand castles with water pits and tunnels:. Jumping over the waves:. We love drawing pictures in the sand, like this mermaid. It was gloomy that day, but it didn't stop us from going to the beach! We enjoyed an end of summer performance of The Little Mermaid. First day of first grade.

Sunday, May 25, 2014. I was so proud of Alaina today - she tried a bunch of things for the first time at her cousin's birthday party (not all are pictured here, even). One was roller skating:. Riding on a go kart:. Driving her own age- and size-appropriate go kart:. And she helped Emi through a climbing structure that she was a little nervous about. Friday, April 05, 2013. Alaina still loves to dress up, pretend, and pose! We've recently gotten into reading classic chapter books together, including several Ramona books and Charlotte's Web. It's been wonderful rediscovering some childhood favorites, and Alaina's attention span for this amazes me. She continues to have a great love of all sorts of books and an expansive vocabulary. Tuesday, July 15, 2014. Alaina took a writing class at the Thurber House in June. This was her writing group with all the other campers at a presentation on the last day. Each child got to read at least one thing they wrote that week. Here Alaina is sharing a story she wrote about how white horses came to be. Thursday, January 22, 2015. This picture's blurry, but it's basically Alaina finding out that the family Christmas gift from my in-laws is a trip to Disney in 2015! Alaina pretending to be "Mean Molly," a villainous character she invented when Emi was pretending to be a cowgirl. She's got that scowl down perfectly. Thursday, November 15, 2012. Halloween and other recent pics. Alaina was a butterfly for Halloween. She wore her wings for quite a few days in a row. I loved that she picked something that could so easily be played with throughout the year. A very easy yet fun costume! It was blustery this year so she didn't stay out long, but she had fun anyway! Todd's mom took one of his old shirts and turned it into a pretty dress for Alaina. How special to wear one of her dad's shirts as a dress! Alaina's sister, Emi.

Sunday, December 15, 2013. This looks much more natural than I anticipated:. My little girl is turning into a lovely young lady and growing more mature each day. The food was focused on some of Alaina's favorites and requests and included mozzarella/spinach/prosciutto pinwheels, crab rangoon, stained glass jello, M&M pretzel cookies, a fruit tray, veggies and dip, chocolate chip cheesecake dip with teddy grahams, olive tapenade, and spinach artichoke dip. She still loves dressing up! Alaina's sister, Emi.
