cine365 challenge | StrictlyMiniCine
https://strictlyminicine.wordpress.com/cine365-challenge
The aim is to select a film each day, and mention it on this blog: http:/ reesiepiecine365.blogspot.co.uk/. The film must be in a language other than English. It must be a film I have seen. I can’t guarantee that all the films mentioned will be brilliant, or to everyone’s taste, but if I succeed there’ll be a searchable list to inspire or remind anyone who visits. I’m not completely sure that I’ll be able to find 365 films – but that’s why it’s a challenge! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. John Wick: Chapter 2.

Whiplash | StrictlyMiniCine

It’s quite a while since I was left speechless at the end of a film (I think the last time was Under The Skin. I really struggled with the first two-thirds of a film, with the bullying, with the abuse, with the fact that a teacher at any level was allowed to get away with such behaviour. Don’t read any further if you haven’t seen the film. 2 thoughts on “ Whiplash. Pingback: My top films of 2015 StrictlyMiniCine. Pingback: La La Land StrictlyMiniCine. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Gangster Squad | StrictlyMiniCine
https://strictlyminicine.wordpress.com/2013/01/18/gangster-squad
This film starts with a very deliberate 1940s style film noir narrative, which began to draw me in, and which fit very well with the trailers I’d seen. But for some reason it then took on a comic book feel and it was downhill from there. Sean Penn, Josh Brolin and Ryan Gosling should have been more than enough muscle to front up a tough gangster movie, but Penn hams it up, Brolin underplays and Gosling is disappointingly wishywashy (and seems to have overdone the lipgloss for some reason). La La Land | StrictlyMiniCine

When I saw director Damien Chazelle’s previous film Whiplash. I commented that the final section had pulled everything together and left me speechless. Well, he’s done it again! Just as I was beginning to feel like my interest in the characters was waning slightly, he pulls out the most touching, beautiful, heartbreaking sequence that draws everything together and brought an unexpected tear to my eye. 8211; the moment where they both realise they are in love with each other. Silence | StrictlyMiniCine

Martin Scorsese must feel a huge sense of relief, having finally brought to screen a story which has been in planning for 20 years or so. But this is so clearly a very personal exploration of faith, doubt and belief by the director that any opinions I have seem unnecessary. Scorsese has bared his soul on screen and I don’t see how it’s my place to argue with him on this one, even though I am coming to this from arguably the very opposite direction. The Complete Pacino | StrictlyMiniCine

I’m a long-time fan of Al Pacino, and I wanted to find out for myself just when the intense young man of The Godfather turned into the shouty caricature of later years. I’ve already seen the majority of these films before, but not for a while. So I’m starting at the beginning, in 1969, and working my way forward. Me, Natalie (1969). The Panic in Needle Park (1971). The Godfather Part II (1974). Dog Day Afternoon (1975). 8230; And Justice for All (1979). Dude, where’s my …. Home School Film School.
