Because six legs are better than two. Newer posts →. Marathon Training Begins (again). Brit has gained five pounds. After the Shaker Village Half-Marathon, I more or less dropped to one run each week for all of November and December and a good chunk of January. When I stopped running, Brit stopped running and since this also coincided with the darkest time of the year, she wasn’t even getting regular dog park visits to do her doggie interval work that she so enjoys. Medals from the 2012 Bourbon Chase.

Because six legs are better than two. Trail Running at Veterans Park. Running with Dog with Horses. I like running. I like organized runs because even though I like running, I’m really bad at making myself do it on my own schedule. I like organized runs that allow dogs. And I like the Kentucky Horse Park. So when the KHP announced it was starting a Monday night run club this summer, I was all in. And Central Kentucky Riding. For Hope before turning back to the main loop. This Monday was another hot one, ...

Trail Running at Veterans Park | Running with Dog

https://runningwithdog.wordpress.com/2015/06/15/trail-running-at-veterans-park

Because six legs are better than two. Running with Dog with Horses →. Trail Running at Veterans Park. Tells me are called whoop-de-doos. The trails are mostly singletrack and while probably not considered overly technical, there are rocks and roots and a few places where a bad step would have sent me down a bank into the creek. I brought filtered tap water for both of us to have after our run, but apparently it’s not as good as the construction-runoff-laced creek water. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

2015 Woodford Wag | Running with Dog

https://runningwithdog.wordpress.com/2015/06/05/2015-woodford-wag

Because six legs are better than two. Trail Running at Veterans Park →. Runners, walkers, and dogs before the start of the 2015 Woodford Wag. I read that you should take one day off for every mile you raced. So, six days off for a 10K, 13 days for a half-marathon, or 26 days for a marathon. I’m for it, but I also think that guideline is for people who race harder than I do. It’s for people who risk running themselves to death. Me? The Woodford Wag 5K. The age group awards are dog tags instead of medals.

Dog Paddle | Running with Dog

https://runningwithdog.wordpress.com/2013/09/12/dog-paddle

Because six legs are better than two. Summer Adventures Part II. Fall Racing →. Last Saturday was the annual Dog Paddle at Woodland Park. Before closing the outdoor aquatic center for the season, they give the town’s canine population the rare opportunity to play in the people pools. There were dogs of all types, but unsurprisingly, Labs made up the majority of those actually swimming. The fin might be a flotation device, or it might just be a tool for human entertainment and dog humiliation. There is a ...

You may have noticed that in spite of its title, this blog rarely features horses or photography (or fauxtography) these days. This is in part because photographing and writing about horses is a large part of my day job. Sometimes I set out to write about horses or riding, and then I think about how I could use my ideas for some work thing instead, so they don’t end up here. You can’t resist that. Go take a look. By the way, it is running with DOG, singular, because runningwithdogs was already taken by a...

Running with Diapers

My journey to make it across the finish line of a marathon. Wednesday, February 29, 2012. Week 15, Days 2 and 3 - Going Postal. Since last Saturday's post fulfilled my kvetching quota for a while, today's post will be used primarily to pay homage to my awesomeness. I know I should start with yesterday's run, but I'm particularly proud of today's run. so there. Since 1912, the inscription on the James Farley Post Office in New York city has read:. I have to admit there is a piece of me that wants to show ...

Running With Dice

A collection of rambling posts about gaming, running, and politics. (and, in 2009, photography.). Tuesday, March 17, 2015. I haven't gone on at great length about abstract gaming ideas in quite awhile. GM: “Men in armor with swords burst into the room. They seem to be searching for something, or someone…”. Player, exercising narrative control: “They bear the colors and sigil of Duke Harald, and the man leading them is my father! I theorize that a story that lets multiple participants have the control to ...

Julie's Triathlon Journal

Wednesday, June 18, 2014. 2014 Chinook Half Triathlon Race Report. Winner schwag AND a photobomb! I won first overall female! Photo courtesy of Gord Bramfield. Race week started off less than ideal. Traveling from Cozumel back home involved a ferry, a bus, a plane, another plane, then an overnight, then another drive. Traveling this much takes a lot out of me, so I was careful to wash my hands, drink a lot of water, eat right, basically do everything in my power to lower my stress levels. I had (and stil...
