Though plans change all the time! August - October/November '06 - South Pacific Islands. The Cook Islands, Beverage reef, Nuie, and Tonga. November '06- March 2007 - New Zealand. With a quick stop over in San Francisco and .Anchorage to see family for the Christmas Holidays. South Pacific all over again- we think. Our Routes in Canada and Alaska and Projected Routes South. The Marquesas

Our first land fall. The island of Hiva Oa. The cows happened to be standing at a Y in the rode with both routes leading to separate petroglyphs. Formalities have been completed and all that remains is to fill the tanks with fuel by transporting ten gallons at a time with our dingy. Next we make way for Fatu Hiva and the Bay of Virgins which was renamed by the missionaries from the native name witch translates to the Bay of Penises after the large granite spires. And, plans change-. The town of Atuana.

The Tuamotus

Our first Atoll- Makemo. There are some wonderful and unique things about this atoll including the people. The snorkeling is great and the shark sighting was rare save for one experience. The water is the clearest I have ever seen. One of the coral heads was right out of Finding Nemo! We saw a dozen or more clown fish. The ice cream cones were $1! The artist's name is Beko and his wife is a school teacher named Jacquelyn. We had wonderful visits to their house. On Sunday we went to Church in Makemo.

New Dawn

She was built in Texas in 1989 with the hull number, 280. We are her third owner. We found her on the internet. Trucked her up from San Diego, California to Bellingham, Washington and. Have finished the major portions of her refit in Port Townsend, Washington. She is set with new sails, new rigging, a new engine, a new dingy and updated electronics. We are ready to set sail! 06 September, 2011. Wow what a summer. I've got a story to tell; I'll tell it soon. Anne and I had an incredible summer. We had great trips to the Enchantments, North Cascades, Montana, Bugaboos, Leavenworth, Lake Michigan, and home again. We had some great climbing for sure, but a lot else as well. 07 February, 2011. Snow cave photos from Mt Baker. 06 February, 2011. Slept in a hole in the snow. Skied in a buttery fog . at least it wasnt raining! Backcountry weekend up at Mt. Baker. Very lucky the weather held. But the fog was rough. Not safe to ski in the open- no depth perception at all. Good education. Building snow caves was great fun. Anne and I built a Rangers Trench with a tarp and skis. Turned out good. . Second-hand down booties are killer for winter camping! 01 February, 2011.
