American Rose Center Trial Ground Winners. The American Rose Society (ARS) provides an amateur hybridizer rose test garden at the American Rose Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. Bush roses are grown for two years and climbers for three years and given the same care as the other roses at the American Rose Center. The roses are judged by a panel of judges at least once a month from April through October of each year using All-American Rose Selection (AARS) Test Score sheets. The Widow of the South.

Una volta raccolti i cinorrodi (mediamente a novembre) è bene conservarli in ambiente fresco per un mese, riunendo in mazzetti o sacchetti i cinorrodi derivanti dagli stessi incroci. A quel punto si può seminare nei vasetti o nel semenzaio riparato dal gelo. Ci sono naturalmente varie tecniche per la vernalizzazione, ma questa mi è sembrata la migliore. Attualmente mi dedico di più all'ibridazione ed alla semina dei lilium, in questo periodo in giardino ci sono molte varietà in piena fioritura. Per adesso ho avuto risultati soltanto con semine senza ibridazioni del lilium "African Queen" che mi piace molto perchè con i suoi steli molto alti emerge dalle rose in questo momento scarse di fiori.
