Skip to primary content. March 16, 2012. When recalling information in an exam, often than not I tend to forget researchers names and dates that I refer to in my essay. This frustrates me, as they are such small pieces of information to remember; yet I cannot always do it! Parasuraman and Rizzo (2007). Believe that the power of the method of loci may lie in its ability to take advantage of this natural state of affairs. So do you think this technique could help your memory recall of lists in exams? When ...

Enhancing Education? Wheres the cut off? | psua13

Just another WordPress.com site. Facebook keeps kids in school…? Wheres the cut off? As human beings, we are always looking for further ways to develop ourselves and the way we live our lives. Throughout time, new scientific and technological advances have enabled us to progress in many elements of our day to day activities, some as little as mobile phones to help us communicate more easily, to that of life saving medical equipment. Skip to primary content. February 24, 2012. Imagine University without lectures. What effect would lecture-less University courses actually have on learning? Well, this is a possibility with the genius idea of podcasting, a digital audio or video recording that can be downloaded from a website to a media player or computer. Why go to lectures if you get this? This has been a savior for me throughout University as I tended to do well in modules that were podcasted. McKinney, Dyck and Luber (2009). Said it...

Skip to primary content. The Social Network Generation. February 9, 2012. I was replying to a blog comment that got me thinking about the use of Facebook (FB) in education. I mean; it is estimated that 95% of British Undergraduate students are using social networking sites on a regular basis (Mori, 2007). 84% agreeing strongly that FB is part of their everyday routine and Madge, et al. (2009). Believes it encourages an active participatory role for the user. Madge, et al. (2009). I think it’s a good oppo...

I am a 3rd year psychology student at Bangor University. Additionally I have on occasion change my mind and been persuaded totally in the opposite direction. For example my view on home schooling has changed entirely, I was really against the idea to begin with, but now I would say yes go for it, and think it is a great idea. I have to admit that I was a bit dubious at the beginning of the module as, as to how I could possibly learn anything if I wasn’t having any lectures. How wrong was I? I don’t know ...

The Potential to Move Forward. A Collaborative Manifesto For The University Of The Future – Part 2. Part 2 of a collaborative blog – please read part 1. What builds a greater body of knowledge, 300 students all writing the same essay, or 300 students all discussing and teaching each other about different aspects of a field? This is our manifesto for the university of the future. Jay Adamson and Declan McClelland. February 5, 2012 at 4:00 pm. For example, we were told in Lesson One of this Module, that la...

Classroom Layouts | theboden

Just another WordPress.com site. Laquo; I’ve forgotten the title to this one…. Everyone loves a good book…? February 17, 2012. Is the layout of a classroom/lecture hall really that important for how useful a learning environment it is? And if so, why is that there are so many different styles we are subjected to over the course of our educational life? So I thought I’d start by giving you a few examples of classroom setups I have experienced. Or leave a trackback: Trackback URL. I think another interseti...

Is There a Need for Politics in Education? | elburns
https://elburns.wordpress.com/2012/02/16/is-there-a-need-for-politics-in-education
February 16, 2012. Is There a Need for Politics in Education? This topic occurred to me to as I was sitting in my ABA lecture about EIBI. ABA has been scientifically shown to work, and increase IQ and adaptive skills within a school (Grindle et al., in press). Yet the LEA (Local Education Authority) are reluctant to implement it into school, but instead put in place courses such as TEACCH which are anecdotally proven to work but not scientifically. Education reform is needed ‘to undo the alleged damage’.
