Just another WordPress.com site. Why do we sleep? March 10, 2012. Nobody knows the exact reason why we need sleep. We have no way of knowing exactly why, although there is much research to support particular theories. There is the belief that sleeps restores the brain and/or the body and there are also evolutionary theories that aim to explain sleep in terms of survival benefits. One of the best ways to examine sleep is with case studies on sleep deprivation. 4 Responses to “Why do we sleep? In addition ...

Self-report techniques involve participants reporting on their own opinions and they come in two types: interviews and questionnaires. So, how useful are self-report techniques? Child development: Is breast-feeding really that important?

Although I strongly believe there is an attachment present between humans and dogs, the main argument against it is that there are a large amount of people who hate dogs with a passion. But there is no way to know if smoking actually causes people to be thinner. There could be a number of unaccounted for variables that could be the cause. For example it may be that people who smoke take more exercise to avoid even more of a health risk lifestyle. Or perhaps even are more concerned about their weight. On the other ...

Just another WordPress.com site. April 29, 2012. Culture plays an important role in Psychology and research into its effects is important, as we need to determine how it will affect our research. Applying Motivational Theory to Blogging. Some people might argue that blog comments are not effective because you do not research the topic you are interested in, therefore internal motivation is reduced. Emotion and motivation

What motivates us to be moral? As humans we live in a society that is governed by moral law, but what is it exactly that motivates us to be moral? One theory is that of social contract theory (La Morte, 1977), which states humans developed a mutual understanding not to negatively affect each other. Therefore in helping others we are ensuring they will help us further down the line, and by not stealing from or attacking others we are ensuring our own safety. BBC (2013, November 29).
