What is Poland's Syndrome. View Table of Contents. I am a 29 year old married woman, a mother of 4. I was born with Poland Syndrome. As an infant I had surgery on my right hand to remove the three middle digits that were merely stubs, and to shift my thumb and pinky finger, giving me a pincher grasp with that hand. As a teenager I underwent numerous reconstructive surgeries on my right breast as well.

I want to keep this book as non-technical as possible, but I feel that in order to understand my struggles, and the struggles of others with PS an adequate amount of background information about P.S. is needed. The severity of the affliction varies drastically from case to case. Some folks are only affected in the hand, some only in the chest.
