Jean from Cornwall: March 2014
http://jeanfromcornwall.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, 29 March 2014. A little dress and a new venture. A new dress for a little girl. This was a Swedish print that I ordered a couple of years ago, and it turned out to be much larger than I thought from the picture in the catalogue. So, now that she has grown some, I have been able to use it. The print was just perfect for self-covered buttons! Thursday, 13 March 2014. And then two from a print of wedding ring patchwork. It is fascinating how much variation can be produced working this way. So ...

Jean from Cornwall: OK, so where's the nest?
http://jeanfromcornwall.blogspot.com/2014/08/ok-so-wheres-nest.html
Saturday, 30 August 2014. OK, so where's the nest? So now you have a rough idea of how wide a wasp's jaw is. I am assuming that the little beasties don't take harm from whatever chemical content there is in the paint they are stripping off with the wood. The Gladioli have been nice, but not very prolific. They are pretty much over now, but we have started getting flowers on some that we thought were not going to. Gardener thinks they are Afghan Gladis. I don't know but I like them. 30 August 2014 at 20:22.

Jean from Cornwall: August 2013
http://jeanfromcornwall.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, 31 August 2013. I have been knitting - small because the weather has been too warm for a great big dollop of alpaca in my lap. The top is from "The Family Knitting Book" - a James Norbury dating from the late 1960's, and the skirt from this. Pattern, which has been hanging round the house since I was a very small person. That's all for the moment on that one! Saturday, 24 August 2013. Now I remember why we wanted a dog. Spillage control. Sunday, 18 August 2013. Requesting permission to rant .

Jean from Cornwall: June 2014
http://jeanfromcornwall.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, 29 June 2014. This evening, the BBC's Countryfile is promising to show the removal of the sails from the windmill. I shall be interested to see that. There was no way I could have shown the breadth of the smile OH was wearing when he came home from walking the dog this morning. He had heard, and seen, a pair of Turtle Doves! So we may have a huge number of Eastern Europeans living and working here, but it would appear that we don't have any Maltese. Sunday, 22 June 2014. And even more so close up.

Sunday, 22 June 2014. Good things are going on in the garden. The Astilbes are looking luscious. And even more so close up. We have got a very nicely veined Mallow, and the Hydrangeas always make me nostalgic. Where I grew up, in West Cornwall, they grow like weeds, and when it was time for the Carnival, the float that the Carnival Queen rode on was wrapped with wire netting, and that had Hydrangea heads pushed in so that they formed a complete mass of flowers. And I do do some handwork still!

Jean from Cornwall: November 2013
http://jeanfromcornwall.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Friday, 29 November 2013. Arabella Molly gets some wellies. Yes, that is the name the doll has acquired. I got an e-mail "Please can you tell Granny that Arabella Molly needs some wellies" I also heard that enquiries had been made as to whether Granny had been told, and if so, how long was it going to take! She had to be told that it was going to be difficult to find that size of wellies. Of course no such thing exists to buy but I did find a pattern here. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Tuesday, 9 September 2014. For the reassurance of anyone who followed the link. In the comments, I suspect the nest in my case is "long ago and far away" since there has been a distinct lack of wasps this year. So the marks have been there for some time. Meanwhile, I have been sewing. The braid is from the haberdashery man in Redhill street market circa 1996 - the joys of a well stuffed stash. This learning new tricks can be a mixed blessing! 9 September 2014 at 17:22. That will be lovely when it is fini...

Jean from Cornwall: October 2013

Monday, 14 October 2013. The picture is of her wearing an Alsace traditional costume, but she was supplied wearing ballet clothes, and I have found a few other bits and bobs over time, so she goes home well supplied, I have been having fun making some as well. It has been lovely going through my boxes of bits to find fabric and trimmings. Now I know why I have been saving stuff all these years! The stripy cardi is from Arne and Carlos' Doll book. Thursday, 10 October 2013. This is "Babies and Bears".
