Pragmatic Libertarian

Libertarianism from a practical, consequentialist perspective. Saturday, January 13, 2007. If you're a regular reader you've probably noticed that I've been blogging way less frequently. I've been busy finishing my last semester of college; getting my BS in Accountancy. Now I have a full time job at an Accounting firm. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to blog any time in the near future. I might resume someday, but until then, good-bye and thanks for reading. Posted by Joseph @ 9:24 PM. After rereadi...

Pragmatic Libertarian: Terrible Trade Policy Proposal

http://pragmaticlibertarian.blogspot.com/2006/09/terrible-trade-policy-proposal.html

Libertarianism from a practical, consequentialist perspective. Friday, September 15, 2006. Terrible Trade Policy Proposal. I'm going to second Dingel. S comment; he believe's that this. Is one of the worst trade policy proposals in recent memory. The proposal is to force importers to obtain a government certificate to import goods as a remedy to the trade deficit. Oddly, the senators that are proposing the new law argue that it's a "market based system". Huh? Posted by Joseph @ 10:00 PM.

Pragmatic Libertarian: Rising Drug Prices

http://pragmaticlibertarian.blogspot.com/2006/06/rising-drug-prices.html

Libertarianism from a practical, consequentialist perspective. Thursday, June 22, 2006. Prices of medicines used by older Americans for chronic conditions such as arthritis and high cholesterol are rising even as new federal drug coverage has been rolled out to help make prescriptions more affordable. Do you think it's a coincidence that the two events are occurring at the same time. I don't and neither does Stefan Karlsson. Thereby raising demand and prices along with it. Pragmatic Libertarian: Ouch! The Truth Hurts.

http://pragmaticlibertarian.blogspot.com/2006/08/ouch-truth-hurts.html

Libertarianism from a practical, consequentialist perspective. Friday, August 25, 2006. It looks like, contrary to popular belief, outsourcing increases domestic wages. Take that, Lou Dobbs. Despite much handwringing and political posturing, the surge of job outsourcing, by increasing productivity, has actually helped raise real wages for low-skilled U.S. workers, according to two Princeton University economists. Also, it looks like most of the burden of the corporate income tax. View my complete profile.

Pragmatic Libertarian: Governator Meets Friedman

http://pragmaticlibertarian.blogspot.com/2006/06/governator-meets-friedman.html

Libertarianism from a practical, consequentialist perspective. Monday, June 26, 2006. I just found Free to Choose. You can see a younger Schwarzenegger giving an intro to the series here. I like how he describes freedom as being able to "chase your own rainbow". LOL, I've never though of it like that, but I guess it makes sense. Via the comments to this post. The Pragmatic Left

Thursday, June 25, 2015. Since the shooting of nine parishioners in a church in South Carolina by a self-avowed white supremacist earlier this month a great deal has been said and written on the subject of the Confederate Flag and its place in American - and particularly Southern - culture. Thursday, March 12, 2015. Daniel W Drezner, a fellow at the Brookings Institution, penned a solid big picture piece on the cartwheeling fireball of catastrophic failure. Tuesday, March 10, 2015. Seeing you modeling how reading matters in “real life” will encourage your child’s learning. Make yourself known to your child’s teachers. A Different Economic Perspective. S 510 Food Safety Modernization Act. This isn’t the time to be taking actions that can only lead to shedding jobs. Procedures will improve little if at all. Small farmers and independent businesses will face the bulk of the increase in regulatory costs. This means that the ‘modernization act’ will mean more inequality. Be a right time for that? The Pragmatic Libertarian | More freedom. Fewer tinfoil hats.

More freedom. Fewer tinfoil hats. In Memory of Harry Browne. March 3, 2006. Like many, I came to the libertarian philosophy through Ayn Rand and Objectivism. What Rand made possible, Harry Browne made real. And people listened. Membership in the Libertarian Party quadrupled between 1995 and the end of his 2000 campaign. More than that, for every person who joined the party, ten voted for Harry on election day. In spite of all the effort made by the Republicans and Democrats to convince people...Harry Bro...
