Sougia is located at the end of a long valley in the south-west of Crete, about 75 km from the city of Chania. You can get there by bus, car or taxi from Chania. The trip takes about 1.5 hour by car and 2 hours by bus. At the Petras Seli pass you keep right and follow the road down passing Agia Irini, Epanochori, Prines, Tsiskiana, and Kambanos. Everything started with Friends from the past who triggered the idea to have a place to meet, eat, and celebrate. So Giannis Marnelakis and his friend Giorgos falaggaris in 1993 opened Polifimos . What started out as Café-Ouzerie (καφέ - ουζερί) for friends, became a tavern well-known for the high-quality of the food and listed in many renown guidebooks. 73009 Sougia, Chania. Since 1993 Polifimos is all about food and its quality. The owner, Giannis Marnelakis, takes great care when selecting the ingredients for his kitchen. The olive oil and the tsikudia (traditional drink of crete) are produced by Giannis and his family. When in season, herbs and some vegetables are grown in the restaurant’s own vegetable garden tended to by Giannis and his staff.
