http://makiepencollector.blogspot.com/2011/09/namiki-emperor-rabbit-in-moonlight.html
Saturday, September 10, 2011. Namiki Emperor - Rabbit in Moonlight. Rabbit and moon is closely related in Chinese folk legend. The Chinese celebrate mid-autumn festival on the 15th of the eight lunar month. When I was a child, adults would tell me that on the full moon of mid-autumn, when the moon is brightest, you can see a rabbit on the moon. You can indeed see the image of a rabbit on the moon. How did the rabbit got to the moon? The Chinese has a few versions of this story. His skillful execution of ...

Maki-e Pen Collector: Maki-e Pen Meet
http://makiepencollector.blogspot.com/2011/06/maki-e-pen-meet.html
Wednesday, June 1, 2011. A friend of has bought a Namiki Snowy Egret and wanted to compare with my years old Snowy to see what's the difference. As we know, maki-e pens are hand painted. Differences are expected. But what is the different between pens that are 7 years apart? Any correction made to improve the painting? We will find out. It can't be. It has been left in the box untouched most of the time and never being touched with bare hand. Is the artist trying to cut cost? We know the price of gold ha...

Maki-e Pen Collector: Namiki - Snowy Egret
http://makiepencollector.blogspot.com/2011/01/namiki-snowy-egret.html
Saturday, January 22, 2011. Namiki - Snowy Egret. In 2004 Namiki launch a new series of maki-e pens for their entire range. They had discontinued most of the old design. A new range is added - Yukari Royale. It's heavier and slightly bigger than Yukari. Bigger size means - more surface to paint on. In fact there are many wonderful pieces in this new range - Royal Count Carriage, Snowy Eaglet, Kingfisher, Night Scene of Pavilion. But I'm more interested in the animals paintings. Namiki - Snowy Egret.

Saturday, February 12, 2011. I have mention previously that in 2004 Namiki launch a new series of maki-e pens. They discontinued almost all of their old Yukari range except this piece.
