Pulling for Denise: September 2005
http://pullingfordenise.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 29, 2005. Here’s a long post covering two days, so get comfy, but not so comfy that you don’t want to jump up and cheer! The most dramatic improvements are a higher cardiac index (saw it go as high as 4.2, SVO2 in the 60s and 70s mostly) and increasing urine output. The ejection fraction according to the EKG was 10 (low. yikes! She got 2 units of blood yesterday because the hemo count dropped to 8? Yesterday they were not using Tylenol because of questionable liver function. Today...

http://pullingfordenise.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 31, 2006. Full day at home, Retinal inflammation gone. We have someone with a British accent living with us to assist us. That makes us feel so. well-to-do. Finally, Denise actually went shopping today. No, not TV shopping. She got to go to Target and pick up a couple of things. I think it's the first time that my wife's set foot in a store since last summer. It was nice while it lasted. ;O). Posted by Phil and Denise Williams at 8:43 PM. Thursday, March 30, 2006. Denise is finally home!

Pulling for Denise: October 2005
http://pullingfordenise.blogspot.com/2005_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 30, 2005. Kids visit USC Hospital for first time. Late this afternoon we got the OK to let the kids visit Denise! Since there are no longer all the monitors that were hooked up in the ICU, it's harder to know what all the stats are. She looks stronger, voice is sounding more and more normal, and she's not feeling "out of it" as much. The current concerns that I'm aware of are:. Vomiting: it's hard for her to hold much down. My understanding is that she is still eliminating, at least.

Tuesday, February 28, 2006. Walking with IV pole, Playing catch, Fish taco. Also good news is that there was no emesis today. We even had a friend do a taco run for us so we could all have dinner together at the SNF, and Denise ate one and a half fish tacos. Not too shabby. The feeding tube's being flushed regularly with the water, followed by Coke. Let's hope that it doesn't develop any more clogs. They celebrated Mardi Gras at the SNF today. One of the residents gave his shiny necklace and mask to ...

Pulling for Denise: December 2005
http://pullingfordenise.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, December 31, 2005. Denise is home again! Though the discharge time was 9am, it took a while to get everything ironed out (meds questions, discharging doctor's signature, etc.). We signed the discharge papers at 1:05pm, the wheelchair guy came about an hour later, and we were off! We just walked/rolled in the door about fifteen minutes ago! Later this afternoon a home care nurse is coming to check on Denise, which sets my mind at ease. Posted by Phil and Denise Williams at 2:53 PM. Today Gracie ...
