January 23, 1997. At 7 years of age I was very fit with my limbs very supple and generally I kept in good health. Dad got a new job in Annan and so the family were moving away from Livingston when I was 10 years old. Mum and Dad eventually decided that the best place for me would be Stanmore House in Lanark which is the residential equivalent of Westerlea. So before the rest of the family had to pack everything into boxes and move home, I settled into my new home and school in Lanark. A Tough Year →.

When I was a Wee Girl. January 23, 1988. Hi, I was a very contented and placid baby, and proud of it! The programme comprised a series of elements which were repeated. In the photograph I am doing a limb stretching exercise: One element: Patterning , involved my 4 limbs moving in a coordinated way for 5 minutes at a time. Initially I needed 3 adults to help do this, but as I got bigger and stronger 5 adults were required and even with 5, I was able to stop them sometimes! I did oblige a little sometimes!

Once I had started again doing most of the breathing myself, I was taken off the machine the plan had been to do it gradually but I gave the tube a left hook and knocked the thing right out. On 6 July 1998 I returned to my residential care home: Netherlea in Dumfries following the 7 month stay in hospitals. January 23, 2010. Just before my 20. I love my room and I generally have enjoyed good health here in my home, but I do appreciate the medical staff and care staff’s efforts as they peg tube feed me and look after me as I can’t look after myself.
