A site for ostomists. Changes in this version:. The method used to fix the clear outer shell to the more rigid baseplate has changed. Instead of relying on glue, plastic cable ties are now used. See a later version. April 4, 2011 at 4:07 am. I found your blog very interesting because I have the same problem and have been trying to find solutions myself. How are the plastic ties working out? Do you have a picture of how you used the bamboo skewers and how they are held in place? How are you getting on?

A site for ostomists. The latest version uses a more heavy duty outer shell – actually, a section of a plastic colander picked up for about a quid. A site for ostomists. Now for the baseplate. Place the shell down onto the chopping board holding it gently in place, without pressing down, draw around the edge of the shell, onto the board. Do not press down as that will distort the shape. Now carefully draw another line around the side and top edges, about 1mm outside of the original. Cut right around the outside lines with a saw, taking a little piece off the top to make it flat. Smooth all edges with sandpaper or file. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

A site for ostomists. This version will possibly be my last for a while. I think is does everything it is meant to do with the added bonus of being the easiest to use yet. View a You Tube video. The whole thing is very strong because of it’s shape and how it is put together. It is best worn underneath those special high-waisted trunks, this helps prevent any belt from slipping over it so easily. A site for ostomists. All that remains is to join the two pieces together and you’re done! Use whatever method you think is best. Currently, I just use a little piece of Duck tape at either end. If the shell is housed properly in the groove you made in the baseplate, the tape should keep it perfectly secure.
