After fitting the plywood base I covered it with roofing felt left over from my shed roof. The passing loop under construction. I still don't know how the point motors will stand up to the elements though. A detachable plywood bridge leading from the shed into the garden. This will be replaced by an arched viaduct later this year. (hopefully). The ballast came from a garden centre (Aquarium gravel) it works out much cheaper and I think it looks ok. Just a little bit more about me. Although this site is primarily about my garden railway project here's a little more about me. My three daugerter's bought me a flying lesson in a 70 year old biplane for my birthday (I won't say which birthday) and when I win the lottery this is something that I'd love to take up seriously. I'm ok taking off and once in the air flying seems to come quite naturally to me but my ambition is to acheive a good landing. Proudly powered by Weebly.

A bargain Gauge one 1/32 Scale Bachmann Brassworks loco got me into this project and every loco needs somewhere to stretch its legs (so to speak) so, with my good lady's blessing it was decided that a garden railway was the way to go. Not wanting to do too much bending I decided on a raised track level standing on wooden posts approximately 3 feet high (900cms) and 3 metres apart. I used Tanalised boards to link the posts together and to create a platform to support the plywood track base.

The drawing of my 60ft turntable under construction. The main bridge will be lazer cut steel. The girders etc (cosmetic parts with rivet detail) for the turntable project I made from Sculpey modelling clay and baked to harden. These will be glued onto the main structure when complete. The drawing of the viaduct project. The first section of the arched brickwork. My loco sound system hides in a covered mineral wagon at the moment. This is an ongoing developement.
