Favorite Healthy Living Books. My journey in the world of whole food plant-based living. I haven’t been here for a while. I lost my mojo. “Life is what happens when we’re busy making other plans”, right? I am re-inventing myself. To do that, I am re-inventing my blog. My focus is no longer food. It’s overall health and finding a new financial path. Once I stopped obsessing about my food choices, I began to lose weight. Imagine that? Come on by and visit me if you like. www.fiftysetgo.com. A Happy Accident | My Plant-Based Quest

https://myplantbasedquest.wordpress.com/2015/06/07/a-happy-accident

Favorite Healthy Living Books. My journey in the world of whole food plant-based living. I wanted to make up some greens that I could munch on between meals and ahead of meals. The problem is, I’m not a huge fan of salad, and cooked greens don’t get my juices flowing. I decided to just toss a few things I like in a pan and see what happened. What transpired was a rather tasty happy accident. 1 can of NSA diced tomatoes. 1/2 container fresh, sliced mushrooms, broken into smaller pieces. Newer Entry →.

April | 2015 | Ladybug in the Kitchen

https://ladybuginthekitchen.wordpress.com/2015/04

Ladybug in the Kitchen. Monthly Archives: April 2015. Spring Potato Soup with Dijon Potato Cream. April 26, 2015. Today felt a little more like spring than the last few blustery days here in the midwest. Despite a bit of a cool breeze today, I was fortunate to find a sheltered place in front of my house to sit and absorb some sunshine. Might as well let my body start making it’s own vitamin D as early as possible. Sometimes I rescue bugs and place them safely outside (I’m weird like that! It’s very...

Ladybug in the Kitchen. Monthly Archives: May 2015. Best Bean Burgers Ever and Happy Memorial Day! May 25, 2015. Today I made a black bean veggie burger that my husband said was the BEST burger I’ve made so far. I made them rather thick, and didn’t over cook them so they are mushy in the middle, where all the yummy flavor resides! They are kind of a ‘kitchen sink’ recipe as I just kept putting things in that were in my fridge! The burgers make great left overs and they freeze well for quick meals. Blend ...

Ladybug in the Kitchen. Monthly Archives: January 2015. Plant Strong Convenience Foods Do Exist. January 22, 2015. It’s scary how much crap is in processed food; and most of it you can barely pronounce! This is one of the things that convinced me that a whole foods minimally processed lifestyle was best for me. Who really knows if those things we can’t pronounce won’t harm us at some point? Apple Sauce and Pickles-Strange but Good Plant Strong Partners. January 20, 2015. No…I am NOT. January 15, 2015.

February 17, 2015. I started this plant based journey so I could be around a long time enjoying life with my husband and grandchildren. Ladybug in the Kitchen. A 4 Day Holiday Weekend of Great Recipes and the Arlington Stampede. July 5, 2015. I had the rare occasion of having four days off for the 4th of July weekend. I will say it was a very busy and productive weekend. I took back the master bedroom after a remodel of 3 years ago left it in disarray. It finally looks like the sanctuary it was intended to be. What made my weekend even better was all the awesome food I cooked over the weekend. I also went to the pool for a few hours toda...

Ladybug in the Kitchen. CPK Quinoa-Arugula Salad, Ladybug Style! July 19, 2015. My husband and I love eating at CPK, otherwise known as California Pizza Kitchen. I especially like eating there since they are very accomodating of my special requests. I can get a veggie pizza that is plant based with out cheese and they don’t flinch. Ladybug in the Kitchen. Panzanella-Plant Strong Bread Salad and Vegan Bacon. July 11, 2015. Yes…I said vegan bacon. I know my bacon loving friends are shaking their heads in disgust…but don’t knock it until you try it! They contain ALL aspects of the pleasure trap-salt, sugar and fat, but they are VERY yummy. The coconut adds a great texture and needed amount of fat. They did get a little soggy in the salad, but would be great on many dishes, including salads. Ladybug’s Panzanella with Vegan Bacon. Ladybug in the Kitchen. New Recipes from a New Cook Book (warning, explicit language). June 27, 2015. It’s called Thug Kitchen, cook like you give a f*&k! It’s written in a very entertaining and casual way that makes cooking not so scary! I will warn you, there is a lot of swearing in the book, it’s how it’s written. It is very fun to read! The best part about the book is it’s all plant based. They do use some oil in it, but that can easily be left out. Below are some photos of the book and the dish.
