Is a website that has virtual manipulatives. Flats represent 100. Longs represent 10, and cubes represent 1. I usually tell them, “put the larger number in your head and count on.” Ex: 12 8 I tell them to put 12 in their head and count on 8 more. This strategy also works for counting back. This is the strategy I stress most often. I tell them that it will almost always help them find the correct answer. We have also talked a lot about drawing an organized.
