There is also the need to reduce the power and financial strength at the centre for stronger and more responsible federating units. For the past three to four decades, local production of goods in Nigeria has continued to dwindle due to the increase in the importation of goods that could be produced in the country. Many of the local producers in the country have folded up due to their inability to favourably compete with imported goods in the market.
