Monongahela Area Historical Society. The Historical Society was formed and chartered in 1961 as a project of the Friday Conversational Club. The Friday Club was formed in 1897, and disbanded in 1975. Until 1975, the president of the Friday Club was a vice-president of the Historical Society. In 1983, a group of individuals had $500.00 to open a museum for one week for the local homecoming celebration, and the museum was such a success that they decided to keep it open!
