I have a T-shirt with a plus sign on it and be a proton, and Bun can have a T-shirt with a minus sign on it and be my electron. MommyProf: But won't that be difficult to explain to people? Offspring: Maybe.wait, I've got it! I can be an egg cell and Bun can be a sperm cell! What's a sperm cell? DaddyProf: Um, yeah. That will never happen. DaddyProf: They would take you away from us.

Sunday, November 09, 2014. The semester from hell is continuing to drag on and on, and was complicated by some family drama this week. It was a nice job of stitching, but also every test known to man to see why she fainted. As I'm sitting there wondering what the going rate for a bag of saline (she had 3) was going to me (my guess - $150/bag), time/money is ticking away towards a giant pile of "don't know.". Still trying to figure out what to do about that one. I don't believe giving up is the answer.

Monday, September 16, 2013. Well, that's a hell of a choice. Today is a day on which I am really, really glad I don't work at an R1. I'm here, about halfway up my second delightful slog up tenure hill, and I just had an article accepted in the top journal in the subfield. So yay, and that's another piece in the puzzle for not getting fired again. I got an e-mail from the publisher last night saying that I can choose to have the article open access for only $2950. So, of course, that's a conundrum, right?

Monday, March 02, 2015. Tenure impacts and the two-body problem. Spouse finished before me, and took a job at a school where we thought there might be a job for me eventually. I was a lecturer for a long time and Spouse got tenure. Eventually I moved to the tenure track, and we lived happily ever after. I'm better off at New School for the most part. Working on the far side of a sizeable commute kind of sucks and NewSchool has a bit of a Stepford quality that's not great. So, advise me, blogosphere.
