http://paddleswithananasacuta.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Paddles with an Anas acuta. Unashamedly biased toward the sea kayak of that name (actually the voyages of two boats, one 'traffic over gold', one 'quill'). Tuesday, 15 October 2013. Shetland: Sunny again on Yell. A few days later we were back on Yell, camping at Cullivoe,. Between Gutcher and Gloup. It was the usual sunny start as we criss-crossed Bluemull Sound looking at the Unst coast as well as Yell. The forecast was for rapid deterioration as a sou-wester came in, but the north coast was sheltered.

A final weather window for 2013. Could you believe it? Surfing the wavelets back across the Solent. Back at Eastney,. A last roll for 2013. Looking forward to paddling into 2014. All the best everyone. Monday, 9 December 2013. Back to the sea: Chichester Entrance. Enjoying the others' discomfiture of getting on dry. Pushing ...

Paddles with an Anas acuta. Unashamedly biased toward the sea kayak of that name (actually the voyages of two boats, one 'traffic over gold', one 'quill'). Wednesday, 12 August 2015. Ice, ice and more ice, from tiny fragile fragments,. To apparently small pieces which can never-the-less prove inconvenient for the kayaker. Once the tide goes out you can see why those little pieces can be hard to navigate! Then there are the large bergs best viewed from a healthy distance away. Friday, 7 August 2015. The b...

Paddles with an Anas acuta. Unashamedly biased toward the sea kayak of that name (actually the voyages of two boats, one 'traffic over gold', one 'quill'). Tuesday, 20 May 2014. Campsites with great views, 'red sky at night', but there was not much cheer for the shepherd in the morning. At this camp the surf suddenly got up in the early hours so I had to recover the boat from the shingle bank as HW threatened it around 01.30. And a small amount of sparkling sea, all is forgiven. Paddles with an Anas acuta. Unashamedly biased toward the sea kayak of that name (actually the voyages of two boats, one 'traffic over gold', one 'quill'). Saturday, 21 February 2015. Calm seas in the central Solent but bright winter sunshine. The race at Lepe Spit proved very very tame, balancing the paddle failed to increase the challenge, but the idea caught on. A step too far! Paddles with an Anas acuta. Unashamedly biased toward the sea kayak of that name (actually the voyages of two boats, one 'traffic over gold', one 'quill'). Tuesday, 16 June 2015. Home from home, or a bivi at Long Ledge. The paddle over in glorious sunshine, force 5-6 westerly raised a lively sea in places, but just added to the sparkle. Once in the shelter of the island all was calm. Selecting our bivouac spot. Orchids on the landslip above us. Wednesday, 3 June 2015. Another well known where-is-it.

Paddles with an Anas acuta. Unashamedly biased toward the sea kayak of that name (actually the voyages of two boats, one 'traffic over gold', one 'quill'). Sunday, 23 February 2014. Already as warm as summer? Today, felt as warm as many a summer day. Pretty odd for mid-February! Must have been getting on for 15C and the water was warm as well. Just as well since the warmth was courtesy of a steady F6 southerly with more vigorous gusts. Saturday, 22 February 2014. On today's walk drifts of sand, silt or c...

Paddles with an Anas acuta. Unashamedly biased toward the sea kayak of that name (actually the voyages of two boats, one 'traffic over gold', one 'quill'). Monday, 22 September 2014. Our home port is a busy place. Paddling into Portsmouth Harbour on Sunday we had HMS Severn as well as the usual ferries and pleasure craft. Whilst on the way out we met this large vessel. We didn't recognise it but a quick check on the internet revealed that it is standing in for one of the regular commercial ferries. Yes, ...
