Hopeful MD: March 2011
http://hopefulmd.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
I was hopeful to get in to medicine, now I'm wanting to stay hopeful IN medicine. This is one of the ways I do that. Wednesday, March 02, 2011. Again I'm reminded of the quote by who-knows-who "The best way to care for the patient is to CARE for the patient." I think people can tell when you genuinely care about them and the easier I can make it for them to navigate the health care system in the least painful way possible, the better for everyone. I was hopeful to get in to medicine, now I'm wanting to stay hopeful IN medicine. This is one of the ways I do that. Sunday, March 03, 2013. It's funny how unaware you can be of the oppression that constant overcast skies impose. So even though I have to work today, it's okay because I get to walk in to work in the sun! Maybe I'll even find some groovin' tunes to accompany me. Counting down the days to getting home - 6 more sleeps (but only 5 till I get to see my husband)! Posted by hopeful md.

Hopeful MD: June 2010
http://hopefulmd.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
I was hopeful to get in to medicine, now I'm wanting to stay hopeful IN medicine. This is one of the ways I do that. Saturday, June 26, 2010. Step 2. Residency. If this were a book, I’d make a section break here now given that I am embarking on the next section of my medical training – my residency. This is the part where I’m given more responsibility because I’m an actual doctor now (so can’t shrug off the things I don’t know by saying I’m just a med student). This is what I’ve been up to:. Through snow...

Hopeful MD: April 2010
http://hopefulmd.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
I was hopeful to get in to medicine, now I'm wanting to stay hopeful IN medicine. This is one of the ways I do that. Sunday, April 25, 2010. I’m done. Med school that is. I finished on Friday. It’s funny because when I returned that evening from Comox and came into my apartment, rather than feeling elated, I felt…a bit glum. I love my little. It just hit me on Friday that I’m leaving so many things (and people) I love to go to a. Friday was my last day in Comox doing an Obs/Gyne rotation. The doctors I w...

I'm currently doing a very busy obstetrics rotation. The babies are coming fast and furious here, believe me. They're having record-breaking volumes of deliveries for the last 3 months (sometimes 8-10 per shift)! They're slippery little critters too. Good thing they're so cute. Posted by hopeful md.

I was hopeful to get in to medicine, now I'm wanting to stay hopeful IN medicine. This is one of the ways I do that. Tuesday, July 27, 2010. A record for me. Usually 5:30 or 6:30am is my wake up time. Posted by hopeful md. Thursday, July 22, 2010. So the anesthetist isn't pissed off with my incompetence and the surgeon doesn't feel like I'm slowing him down! Word travels like wildfire through hospitals and I have no doubt that the nurses in the day clinic downstairs will have heard about my escapades tod...

Hopeful MD: February 2011
http://hopefulmd.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
I was hopeful to get in to medicine, now I'm wanting to stay hopeful IN medicine. This is one of the ways I do that. Saturday, February 26, 2011. This weekend I'm on call for the long term care home, aka the nursing home. Many of the people that live there are demented and others for whatever reason, require a level of care that exceeds what can be provided by family members. It's been a busy 2 days. But today, I saw something that in particular gave me a moment of sadness. Posted by hopeful md.

I was hopeful to get in to medicine, now I'm wanting to stay hopeful IN medicine. This is one of the ways I do that. Thursday, November 04, 2010. I don’t know who it is that says this (and don’t care) but I think it is sage advice for families and friends of loved ones), and I think if you have the opportunity to fill someone’s last few hours with kind words, so much the better.
