Mabuhay ang Bagong Kasal: January 2015

http://mabuhayangbagongkasal.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, January 22, 2015. 5 Years, 1,825 Clicks. We happily celebrated our fifth year anniversary last December 26, 2014. We marked our 5th wedding anniversary by having a simple family lunch and by purchasing a new fridge! Home: renting 2 homes and then finally moving to a tiny place we now own (this was a target we had for our third year). Schooling: Miguel graduating from high school and he's now in university. Family vacations: we try to slip in a few throughout the year. Keeping ones individual in...

I didn't know how to cook before Sweetie and I tied the knot and I learned how to cook by watching videos on YouTube (thanks for the tip Dominic Ochoa! My first real dish (because it's not fried eggs/hotdog/ham etc.) was adobo and I perfected it by watching several videos (see Komikero's adobo video). And here's what I came up with -. Mabuhay ang Bagong Kasal: March 2013

http://mabuhayangbagongkasal.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Thursday, March 21, 2013. It's quite hard to translate the Filipino word kilig. To English. Even Google Translate gives an inaccurate translation "hoity-toity". But I think it's more appropriate to say that kilig. Means the lovey-dovey warm, fuzzy feeling. Or something like that. There are just some Filipino words that are impossible to translate. Today's episode was one of those times that I felt really kilig. I kept making kilig. Sounds while watching and the bagets. Please be careful with my heart.

Mabuhay ang Bagong Kasal: The First Laundry Day

http://mabuhayangbagongkasal.blogspot.com/2010/01/first-laundry-day.html

Thursday, January 7, 2010. The First Laundry Day. We purchased our washing machine and refrigerator a week before the wedding since we were scared that delivery might take more than a week because of the holidays. Both appliances were delivered a day after the scheduled date because Abenson said that the truck had to be repaired. My Mom and Aunt arrived and supervised a bit when I put in the detergent, Del and some clothes. Filled up the tub with about a third of clothes - 2 pairs of jeans, a couple ...

Mabuhay ang Bagong Kasal: First Cooking Attempt

http://mabuhayangbagongkasal.blogspot.com/2010/01/first-cooking-attempt.html

Sunday, January 3, 2010. I used to bake a lot but I can count with my fingers the number of times I've actually cooked (just spaghetti and bacon). It's not because I don't want to cook, I'm just insanely scared of fire/flames, oil wisik. And I've developed an allergy to LPG. We received an electric stove as one of our wedding gifts so we were quite excited to try it out. We planned to cook sinangag. And hotdog for breakfast. Our first cooking attempt was a huge failure, but we still had a hearty breakfas...

Gardening for Noobs: My Fire Trees, 2 Months After

http://gardeningfornoobs.blogspot.com/2011/05/my-fire-trees-2-months-after.html

Trying to turn my brown thumb into green. Saturday, May 21, 2011. My Fire Trees, 2 Months After. I think I'm better at planting trees and herbs than flowers. I have so far been successful with my fire trees! They have grown to about 6 to 8 inches in just two months! I spotted one young fire tree in our village and I am hopeful that my fire trees would also bloom a year or two from now (I honestly have no idea when they will start to bloom haha. Anyway, here they are! Labels: caring for fire trees. Menudi...

Trying to turn my brown thumb into green. Saturday, February 26, 2011. Planting an Orchid Tree. My aunt got a pack of orchid tree seeds at Sonya's Garden during our trip last December for my Mom. My Mom gave me a couple, but it took me sometime before I got around to planting them. My marigold. I just water them using a small water pail and not a hose. I just put enough water to moisten the soil, I don't want to drown it like I did my other plants (haha! I hope that my babies would grow up like them!

Gardening for Noobs: Gardening Full Speed Ahead, Lessons Learned

http://gardeningfornoobs.blogspot.com/2011/02/gardening-full-speed-ahead-lessons.html

Trying to turn my brown thumb into green. Monday, February 21, 2011. Gardening Full Speed Ahead, Lessons Learned. I took a break from blogging here because I thought I'd focus first on making sure that my plants would live. My sister bought me a couple of herbs when we were in Tagaytay last December and one out of five died. I luckily managed to bring back two into good health and the other two are still under observation (but showing signs of getting revived). My tiny garden would also only get some dir...

Gardening for Noobs: November 2010

Trying to turn my brown thumb into green. Sunday, November 28, 2010. My Dad taught me how to cook his famous mustasa. Dish It's one of my favorite dishes and I'm glad I finally learned how to cook it the way my Dad does. I noticed though that. It's hard to get healthy-looking mustasa. In the supermarket, so when I found some seeds from Ace Hardware I immediately got a pack. I stupidly planted all the seeds in the pack in one pot! Anyway, the mustasa. Sunday, November 21, 2010. Trying to turn my brown thumb into green. Thursday, December 23, 2010. Buying Plants in Tagaytay (Mahogany Market). I've been to Tagaytay numerous times, but skipped buying plants at the roadside because I didn't want to risk getting side-swiped by speeding vehicles. Last weekend we discovered the Mahogany Market. We went there to buy fruits and vegetables, but was pleasantly surprised to find a lot. Of plants for sale! All kinds of herbs and spices which you can get 5 for a PhP100. An Apple a Day. I too...
