Monday, September 2, 2013. I took on the rearing of a puppy dog this summer and blogging had to go on the back burner. It had been ten years since my last puppy and I’d forgotten how much work it was. What came from not being able to be in front of the easel was surprisingly an unexpected surge in creative thinking, sort of a downtime from actually pushing paint around at the end of a brush. I am a ceramic artist living and working in Cape Town South Africa. At this time the main focus of my work is sculptural ceramics incorporating mixed media, although I do functional pottery and murals, using traditional glazes and methods. As women we are often portrayed only at our prime. With my sculptures I am trying to represent the real women we encounter every day; women of all ages, colours and shapes, our relationships with each other, our relationship with ourselves.
