Built for Glory: Review: SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP by J. Oswald Sanders
http://builtforglory.blogspot.com/2015/08/review-spiritual-leadership-by-j-oswald.html
Getting ready to live forever. Review: SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP by J. Oswald Sanders. This had to be a giveaway at some point. The title doesn't seem like anything I'd be interested in. Fortunately, it's a pretty good book. I credit that to its age; it was written before the current age of CEO/pastors, so it owes more to the Bible than to modern business practices. I'm no one whose opinion matters, but it seems that if you want to learn how to lead a church, you should study the New Testament. Review: SPIRIT...

Built for Glory: Courage?
http://builtforglory.blogspot.com/2015/07/courage.html
Getting ready to live forever. There has been a lot of talk about Bruce Jenner lately. If you don't know anything about it because you've been living, say, under a rock for the last few months, I envy you. Also, here's a summary: 65-year-old former athlete decides he was always really a woman named Caitlyn, and took female hormones and had surgery to change his appearance. Did it take a lot of courage to do a photo shoot with Vanity Fair. And appear on the cover of that magazine? Review: THE PURSUIT OF H...

Built for Glory: VIIII. The Lord's Day
http://builtforglory.blogspot.com/2015/08/viiii-lord-day.html
Getting ready to live forever. VIIII The Lords Day. The first day of the week is the Lord's Day. It is a Christian institution for regular observance. It commemorates the resurrection of Christ from the dead and should include exercises of worship and spiritual devotion, both public and private. Activities on the Lord's Day should be commensurate with the Christian's conscience under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Built for Glory: Review: SHARE JESUS WITHOUT FEAR by William Fay
http://builtforglory.blogspot.com/2015/08/review-share-jesus-without-fear-by.html
Getting ready to live forever. Review: SHARE JESUS WITHOUT FEAR by William Fay. I believe God gifted me as an evangelist. The word translated that way only appears once in the New Testament , and it is not in reference to someone who tells non-Christians about Jesus Christ. The only time evangelists are mentioned, they're described as people for the building-up of the Church both universally and locally. A name for people who try to reach the lost with the Gospel. They're called Christians. Review: TOLKE...

Built for Glory: 2Chronicles 10
http://builtforglory.blogspot.com/2015/08/2chronicles-10.html
Getting ready to live forever. This chapter is the answer to our perceived need for youth pastors. This isn't the time or place for a detailed argument about church polity or leadership structures. I will only say that a boy doesn't learn to become a man from other boys trying to become men. (The same principle applies to girls, too.) It was listening to people his own age that caused Reheboam to split God's people. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Review: THE WAY OF THE WILD HEART by John Eldredge.

Built for Glory: Review: SURPRISED BY GRACE by Tullian Tchividjian
http://builtforglory.blogspot.com/2015/08/review-surprised-by-grace-by-tullian.html
Getting ready to live forever. Review: SURPRISED BY GRACE by Tullian Tchividjian. Though the title is reminiscent of CS Lewis' Surprised by Joy. This isn't autobiographical, like Lewis' book. Rather,it's about grace and its role in the life of of the Christian. The book itself is a look at grace through the lens of the book of Jonah. As such it's very good. It's a very different approach to a very familiar story, and it's highly effective. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Its just voyeurism, you know.

Built for Glory: 2Chronicles 6
http://builtforglory.blogspot.com/2015/08/2chronicles-6.html
Getting ready to live forever. The covenant with Israel wasn't unconditional, but dependent on Israel's faithfulness. It's interesting, then, that in his prayer Solomon asked God. To remember his promise. It's seems that he thought too much of man and not enough of God. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Review: THE WAY OF THE WILD HEART by John Eldredge. Built for Glory: Review: WHAT THE EARLY CHRISTIANS BELIEVED ABOUT THE HEAD COVERING byDavid Bercot
http://builtforglory.blogspot.com/2015/08/review-what-early-christians-believed.html
Getting ready to live forever. Review: WHAT THE EARLY CHRISTIANS BELIEVED ABOUT THE HEAD COVERING by David Bercot. This is a short book, another of Bercot's lectures that has been transcribed and edited. This one concerns veiling, an issue that has become obscure even within Christianity. The fact that we consider this an unimportant issue says a lot about our idea of obedience. Whether you agree with Bercot's conclusions or not, I recommend it just for causing us to think about it. Team Hsu: The Day We Let Our Son Live
http://teamhsu.blogspot.com/2009/02/day-we-let-our-son-live.html
No, this isn't about athletics at Humboldt State University or Hardin-Simmons University or Helmut Schmidt-Universität. It's about our family - Al, Ellen, Josiah and Elijah Hsu! Tuesday, February 17, 2009. The Day We Let Our Son Live. Hoping for the Best. Al was supposed to be with me at the doctor’s office, but was running late after discovering his car had a flat tire. I hoped he would arrive in time to see the clearer images of our son. Our OB/ GYN. 8217;t said much while she worked and explained that...
