Trash Talk: A Second Bag

http://litter101.blogspot.com/2011/02/second-bag.html

Friday, February 25, 2011. Hen I first began picking up litter in earnest – that is, always picking up at least a discarded can or two on my walks – I had this vague idea I'd find interesting or unusual objects from time to time. So far, the most unusual thing I've found is a little packet of parmesan cheese. Well, I can understand why. I gets in the way of a good walk, or a good bike ride. And that's why I came up with my strategy of picking up at least some. But wouldn't you know it? Is a free-form blo...

Trash Talk: Muck Muck Goose

http://litter101.blogspot.com/2011/03/muck-muck-goose.html

Sunday, March 6, 2011. Oday's haul consisted mostly of the usual stuff: wadded up fast food bags and wrappers, empty carry-out cups, empty Bud Lite cans, and so on. One less bag of crap strewn over the landscape. I came across a trove of litter in a big drainage area behind a shopping center. I wonder how stuff accumulates there? There was more crap there than I could possibly stuff into my little bag, so I'll have to make that a regular stop. Are their wings tired. Yeah, I always take my camera with me.

Trash Talk: February 2011

http://litter101.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 28, 2011. N the"Zug Island" post on this blog, I used the phrase "environmental abuse." It is something all too common – even now, when we live in a supposedly more enlightened, "green" era. Zug Island is back in Detroit, where I used to live. Another instance of environmental abuse there happened about twenty years ago. Now, I admit that the story I'm telling here is way. Note the predicted year of Earth's demise. I managed to do both. There were quite a few cops on hand, too, protectin...

Trash Talk: Zug Island

http://litter101.blogspot.com/2011/02/zug-island.html

Sunday, February 27, 2011. Ust feast your eyes: Zug Island, an industrial wasteland along the Detroit River. I took this picture a number of years back when I lived in Detroit, and lucked into a helicopter ride around town. The development of Zug Island is environmental abuse on a massive scale, one that says much about what humans have done, and are still doing, to our delicate planet. It's been downhill ever since. Praise from a Future Generation: Check this out

http://praisefrom.blogspot.com/2013/05/check-this-out.html

Praise from a Future Generation. Friday, May 3, 2013. Ere are links to a few things I've developed over the last year or so, relating to the JFK assassination. S three versions: This documents the defunct magazine's role in covering up the assassination. This one gathers a handful of essays on the JFK assassination. I consider them worthy reading, as the fiftieth anniversary of that crime draws ever closer. Let me know what you think! Also, check out my book. And I don't mean from the library.

Praise from a Future Generation: March 2011

http://praisefrom.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Praise from a Future Generation. Thursday, March 24, 2011. S this is written, the 50th anniversary of the JFK assassination is less than three years away. It is safe to assume a great deal of media attention will be given to this event. In this post, I shall briefly present a case study: the deliberate suppression by CBS of a potentially important piece of evidence. In 1967, Warren Commission critic Raymond Marcus was contacted by CBS and asked to lend his expertise to a new examination of the Warren Rep...

Praise from a Future Generation: The Debate Club

http://praisefrom.blogspot.com/2013/12/the-debate-club.html

Praise from a Future Generation. Sunday, December 8, 2013. The following is the text of an op-ed I wrote for the "Debate Club," a feature of the US News and World Report. Web site. The occasion was the fiftieth anniversary of the JFK assassination. The magazine asked me and four others to comment on the question, "Was JFK's Assassination a Conspiracy? I'm not certain, but I think I made an error. Totally my fault. Kennedy's back-and-to-the-left reaction is. To beat you senseless. Or all its virtues, the ...

Praise from a Future Generation: April 2011

http://praisefrom.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Praise from a Future Generation. Thursday, April 14, 2011. Here aren’t many laughs associated with the Kennedy assassination. This is as it should be. Of course, there are always those undeterred by matters of taste. Too, humor can be a defense mechanism. So naturally there is a lighter side to the issue. In introductory material to her comparative study Accessories After the Fact,. Now, with the passage so much time, we can get away with more than we could in 1964. Which brings me to Bill Hicks. Lung: Why Lung?

http://bluelung.blogspot.com/2013/04/why-lung.html

Tuesday, April 30, 2013. The following is a slightly modified re-post. T isn't likely anyone cares, but I thought I might briefly explain why this blog you're reading is called "Lung.". Once upon a time I was learning FrameMaker, which is desktop publishing software. As a learning exercise I created a multi-column newsletter and named it Lung. 8211; a silly, whimsical, entirely meaningless name. Thus edified, I reverted to simply "Lung.". Microsoft Word. Bill Gates' cash cow. I'm stuck with it&#4...Is a ...

Lung: Resolutions: A Story for New Year's Day

http://bluelung.blogspot.com/2014/01/resolutions-story-for-new-years-day.html

Wednesday, January 1, 2014. Resolutions: A Story for New Year's Day. Ave you broken your New Year's resolution yet? What's taking you so long? Some people take New Year's resolutions seriously. That can be a good thing: start the new year with a vow to improve yourself, or correct some detrimental behavior. Imagine: some guy at a crowded party on New Year's Eve. It's a few minutes before midnight. He goes into the bathroom and lights a cigarette. Resolved: My last smoke forever. So he bums one from that ...

Praise from a Future Generation: May 2011

http://praisefrom.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Praise from a Future Generation. Saturday, May 28, 2011. E-book: Praise from a Future Generation. Ome very witty wag once defined a liberal as someone whose interests aren't at stake. This applies to more than just politics. On one of my other blogs, I railed against e-books and e-readers. Now the shoe is on the other foot. My publisher recently contacted me to see if I would like to prepare an e-book version of Praise from a Future Generation,. This development gives me an opportunity. There are som...

Lung: Cargo Bike

http://bluelung.blogspot.com/2014/04/cargo-bike.html

Sunday, April 20, 2014. Y now, I have volunteered about twelve hours to Community Cycles. The local bike co-op. I work a three hour, Sunday afternoon shift, and usually come home tired, covered with blotches of grease, and happy. I made a post about my first shift. A few weeks ago. In it I described, among other things, a cargo bike that a guy there was building. I saw that cargo bike again the following week and took a picture of it with my cell phone. Lung: This Is Not Your Father's Marijuana

http://bluelung.blogspot.com/2014/01/this-is-not-your-fathers-marijuana.html

Saturday, January 4, 2014. This Is Not Your Father's Marijuana. Nce upon a time, it woulda been a dream come true: marijuana is. During my Reckless Youth phase, the idea was – well, a pipe dream. And yet that dream has. It's a little late for moi. Yeah, I'll be tempted to step inside a pot emporium, first time I see one. Novelty, you know? But I won't buy anything, or accept a free sample. Smokin' dope, I'm afraid, has long since lost its charm. Smoke 'em if you got 'em – if you're so inclined. The Anti-...
